General Overview of Experience All of the ride reports seem to be an accurate description. I felt like everyone there was supportive and encouraging. It was a pretty low stress, conversational process.
There were only 3 candidates that day. I was the only one at 10am start time.
It is a relief to not have the JKT now, and to have the COG complete before arriving in ATL.
Of course i was still amped up and stressed because it’s kind of a big deal.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Probably guaranteed app review that my company finally sent in. This was after 11 years of applying and attending 2 in house job fairs. I hadn’t updated my app in 9 mos when the invite came. First interview canceled for COVID, but got invite for online assessment as soon as they started back up.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 2 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? I could never get the hours on my logbook to completely match up with how the app calculated it. I guess they weren’t too concerned because they never brought it up. Some degree of mismatch should be allowed with over 11,000 hours.

They did not have me initial any changes or explain anything on my paperwork so i guess it was acceptable.

Technical Test Questions None.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Nothing technical.
Probably difficult to best answer.
TMAAT you hade to make a difficult aviation decision and not all of the team was onboard with it. How did you convince them to your way of thinking? The MMPI psych eval is arduous. 500 plus questions with repeating concepts. The other 2 candidates had to retake it, but made it through and got the CJO. They tell you to just answer honestly. Be consistent.
HR Questions WWYD Captain consistently flying 15 kts slow ? to pad his paycheck.

Why this college?
Why this degree?

Describe someone who was a mentor or a leader to you. What made them great?

Cog Test Multi tasking with the math was pretty difficult. I just tried to spread my focus between tasks and mostly neglected math stuff because i couldn’t calculate them quick enough.

The complex coordination flying through the obstacles was challenging. I did not mess with speed controls. Just concentrated on lining up with gaps. Definitely would have been easiest with a mouse, but i was one of the first to take it and didn’t know what i was getting into.

Don’t get frustrated if you mess something up. Just keep focused throughout the task and put the mistakes behind you. I found that i seemed to improve on each section the longer i was doing it.

Definitely practice with RST tools. They weren’t available yet when i took the assessment.

How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? Many years
How did you prep?
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Checked and set, YouTube videos, read lots of gouge and ride reports.

Best thing to help was think of several stories i could tell, and how i could implement them in the response. Just be yourself. Chat with them. Be confident but humble. I practiced my 5 min introduction. And recorded it. Then decided what parts i needed to cut or where i was rambling. Then recorded again, and then again. When you hear youself outloud you can better critique yourself. So i made it more polished, but not sounding canned or rehearsed.

Any additional information you would like to add. The head of hiring seems to be pretty pro mask. They make it clear when you arrive that mask wearing is not “mandatory” but also say it is highly encouraged. Several staff members were not wearing masks. But a lot of people were. To me it seems that if it’s highly encouraged on campus, a candidate really should show compliance and not risk making a bad impression.
Understand that an individual from that department tested positive for COVID the day after i interviewed.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
