Which Airline did you interview with? Delta Air Lines
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 6 weeks between invite and interview. 2 week availability.
Did you include volunteer work in your application? Yes
Did you receive a job offer? No, 6 months re-invite, Cog Failure
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? I think I overthought the NEO personality inventory. Accuracy on clicking the middle of boxes on cog may have been weak too.

General Overview of Experience The tech prep was right on. I was told I aced engineering and aerodynamics. The cog/NEO just spits out a yes/no, so I’m not sure where I screwed up. I think answering the question “I am always prepared” as strongly disagree bc the “always” makes it a false statement may have been too literal and flagged for inconsistency when I answered “I am usually prepared” strongly agree.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Received a fix it email to list each certificate earned at my flight school individually.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No. I went with PROSOFT and got the tabs. Made an “important dates” page and tabbed from my first flight to my latest upgrade. Stayed away from delta logos. I’ve used lighten pro for the last five years, but brought the originals too. I was asked zero questions about my logbooks specifically.
Technical Test Questions That gouge is right on. The online tests were great!! The topical study guides and access to source material really helped me crush a part of the interview that may have been weak otherwise.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? A question requiring converting degrees and minutes to miles.
HR Questions The hypotheticals turned into a bit of a pile on. I was told I did this well, and emerald coast is to thank. I got the full plane, tight connections, half of the lavs broken, Mx says 30 minute delay, what do you do? I talked about my thinking process and elected to get it fixed, but there were still lots of follow ups. The captain maybe drinking close to 8 hours was tricky too. Gather all info first. Decide what the problem is. Don’t allow something illegal to happen, but do everything you can to handle it at the lowest level.
Cog Test Math was weak. Couldn’t divide 384/4 fast enough and that question expired. I noticed online, the balancing ball seems to count points only if it touches the red bars on the beam. On my test, I let the line get 1/3 to 1/2 out before I brought it back. Other guys were rapid clicking to keep it centered. Does it matter? Is one better? I got to Y on the alphabet sequence, but might have lost points if tapping the exact center of the block is a big deal. My number recall felt good. All beeps and no beep boops. Overall, I felt good about the cog.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 5 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast
Any additional information you would like to add. Thank you so much for your service. I feel like it got me most of the way there. I think I could have picked up a few more points in the cog, but I’m pretty sure I messed up on the personality test, which is ironically the one test I didn’t prepare for. Everyone said it was a no brainer, can’t prep for it, etc.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? I wish I had taken some NEO PIR tests online to at least check that I was getting consistent results and not some weird inconsistency.
Like everyone before me said, and surely to be ignored by everyone after me, logbooks. If those had been 100% instead of 80% when I got the invite, I could have dedicated more time to studying.
