Technical Test Questions The test I drew was heavy on systems; especially electrical. There was maybe one or two aero questions and one or two math questions. I could usually eliminate two answers that made no sense. Many of the systems questions were straight forward if you have flown a complex aircraft. RST prep was great, but definitely benefitted some of the other candidates who got more aero heavy tests.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Nothing stands out.
HR Questions – Quick intro of the panel (HR, current CA, retired CA).
– Tell us about yourself in about 5 minutes starting from high school.
– App review. Initialed off a few items and signed it. They each picked something interesting from the app and asked me about it. They asked me about my terrible grades my first year of college and a ticket I received over 20 years ago. It was all very conversational.
– There was a clean break and we went into the TMAAT questions. They each asked one question: TMAAT a decision you made was questioned. TMAAT you provided good customer service. I can’t remember the third question. Each answer went off into tangents as they asked questions. It was all very conversational and low stress in my opinion.
– Another clean break and we went into WWYD questions. They each asked one question: WWYD, your the FO and the CA is flying and thinks he can clear a line of thunderstorms by going over the top. You think otherwise. WWYD, your the CA and while airborne get a message from dispatch your aircraft has been targeted for a terrorist attack. I don’t recall the third question. These were not as conversational. I asked some follow up questions that didn’t really get answered. Instead I made, and vocalized, assumptions throughout the scenario to conclusion. I did have to make PA announcements twice that they wanted to hear.
– Once that was complete they asked if I had any questions. I asked no questions, but thanked them for the opportunity.
Cog Test Practice RST once a week, but don’t overdue it. The cog tests were really easy.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 6 months off and on.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC. I thought it was helpful and would definitely recommend. Stay away from canned answers and work on digging into your “well” of stories based on what type of question is asked. Practice escalating a situation starting with the lowest level. Practice speaking in front of a group of people. ECIC helps with all of this.
Any additional information you would like to add. Its a stressful time. Connecting through FB and meeting up the night before for dinner really helped. There is a lot of downtime. Interact like a normal human being and don’t isolate yourself. They’re probably watching and want to see the interaction.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Wouldn’t have changed a thing.
