Which Airline did you interview with? FedEx
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 4 weeks
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? Na
What is your experience? Military/135
Total Flight Time 5,000-8,000
Total Turbine PIC Time >2,000
General Overview of Experience The process was outstanding. On day one, Amy will walk you through the schoolhouse and show you the facilities. You will then start with the cog, then the Psychological exam, then the Knowledge exam. It started at 0730 and ended about 1130. I got called back for day two and this time it started at 0715 and was finished by 1315. They provide lunch on the second day. I started with the panel first (which lasted about an hour…followed by the sbi which lasted 30-40 minutes). In all, I felt really prepared and found the whole experience to be exceptional.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Kept updating my resume and trying to get as many recommendations as possible.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. I have the old school Jepp Pro logbooks and they seemed satisfied.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? Rst delta. The cog was spot on…with one caveat. On the actual test it’s touch screen. Also, the directions/instructions are a little different from the practice here… so SLOW DOWN AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The JKT closely paralleled the tests here…I’m following rst on FB and found that to be helpful as well. Be sure to study each study section on RST…it’ll help you on test day.
Technical Test Questions Not just hold entries but outbound headings and adjusted times entering a hold. Several on stability. About a 3rd of the test was Aero, a third engineering, and a third Navigation…no weather.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? As I mentioned I had to go back to old school flying when I got the question about adjusted heading and timing entering a hold. Be sure to study the Aero, engineering, and navigation sections on RST.
Cog Test Very, very close…read my above comments on reading the instructions.
Cog Math Questions Easy…simple word problems with ample time to answer. There were also some percentage problems.
HR Questions Tell me how you got here. Tell me your story. Give me an example of good leadership, of bad leadership. Have you ever failed at something, why? They are looking for sincere answers here…not canned prepped answers.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? None.
Any additional information you would like to add. They are alert for gouge answers so be sure to tell them YOUR story. And on the sbi don’t assume anything. Just roll with whatever scenario you get.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? I don’t think so.
What can we do to improve our services? I feel you guys do a great job.
