General Overview of Experience Delta does a great job with the process. As others have said come prepared and you will do fine. I highly suggest not over thinking and studying.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? <60 days
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Multiple internal recommendations.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None – but don’t get fancy. Tab your logbooks and make a summary if you like. No fancy folders – they make you take all paperwork out and hand it over when you show up.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST – Didn’t follow 15 day checklist – studies all areas just on my own – found too many days were spent on Aerodynamics and not enough time was left for general info (regs, navigation, etc). Start with the Ground schools – don’t end with them. Use the flash cards. If you are passing the knowledge tests on RST and understand the material you will pass the written test.
Technical Test Questions Don’t over study hard math and navigation formulas. The math and navigation formulas on the test are basic descent and holding questions (at least that is what I got). Nothing out of left field and felt I over studied.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? None – only guessed on 5 out of 60 and on those it was between two answers.
Cog Test Different than RST but no issues.
Cog Math Questions Easy math and more time to do them.
HR Questions A lot of time spent on my application and talking about my past jobs and education (management pilot work and grad school). Be ready to answer and discuss anything you put on application.
TMAAT – someone questioned your decision in flight deck
TMAAT – felt scared in flight deck
WWYD – Pax is scared about Muslim on board
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 6 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Aero crew solutions
Any additional information you would like to add. HR failures were common in our group. A couple were very overly nervous during HR portion. They want to meet confident pilots who can talk about their career and have a reasonable discussion about scenarios. Worst part is waiting to see if you got the job while names are being called who didn’t get it. But glad to know the same day!
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Nothing – would rather be over prepared
