General Overview of Experience | Outstanding. Everyone, starting with the security folks that gave us our visitor’s badges, was extremely friendly and encouraging. MMPI was straight-forward. Interview was with 717 LCA, 717 FO, and HR rep. They had one question about my logbooks but it was easily explained. WWYD/TMAAT questions were all things I’d seen in the HR simulator. Took just over an hour. 15/17 for CJOs. |
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | 1-6 months |
Did you attend a job fair? | No |
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | I got two strong internal letters of rec; got the invite email shortly thereafter. Don’t know, however, if that’s what triggered the invite. |
How many internal recs did you have? | 1-2 |
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 6 weeks |
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | Minor. I included a summary sheet at the front of my logbook which listed my total time in a specific aircraft. I had flown that aircraft in both the Navy and USAF, but the interview panel had only referenced my USAF flight hour report and not my Navy one. Once I explained that, they seemed fine; didn’t even reference the Navy paperwork and took me at my word. |
Technical Test Questions | None, really. They asked if I was familiar with FAA crew regs; I said I was only familiar with USAF rules. They didn’t seem to mind. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | N/A |
HR Questions | TMAAT you cancelled a flight. I told them about taking myself off a training flight because of fatigue. WWYD Captain is lining up to land at the wrong airport. WWYD You are a new Captain and FO is continuously doing all your flows/duties at multiple stops. WWYD Captain is dealing with a MX issue that will result in a 45 min delay, causing half of the passengers to miss connecting flights, including 6 passengers who will miss their international flight. What do you do, what do you say to the passengers? |
Cog Test | I made sure I aced the easy tests (patterns, spatial orientation, clearance read back) to offset the fly-through and Sudoku challenges. Got my Cog results back about 3 hours after I took the test. RST Does a great job with this! |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | Started months before, but once I got the interview, I hit it hard the last three weeks prior, especially in the last week before the interview |
How did you prep? | RST webinar was very helpful. |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | RST webinar was also very helpful. Check out their one on one prep! |
Any additional information you would like to add. | I had a lower GPA from my undergrad degree and was expecting questions about it, but it never came up. |
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | I was unprepared to talk about some of my check ride downgrades. It has been years since I received a downgrade and I hadn’t reviewed any of my Form 8’s. I should have read over them and been ready for any questions. |
