General Overview of Experience Overall, my impression of the experience was professional and welcoming. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you walk out you’ll get that feeling. Just like many others have said, Capt Holmes and all of his staff are genuinely wanting you to succeed – they wouldn’t have invited you if they didn’t think that you could. Capt Holmes talks to the group and tries to calm the nerves and dispel myths, such as: We do not invite “throwaways” just to make the numbers work; We genuinely want you if we’ve invited you; shoes don’t matter; suit doesn’t matter; tie doesn’t matter, etc, etc. After it was all said and done and I had a chance to reflect on the whole process, I firmly believe their mindset is that once they get you there, their intent is to have you prove who you said you were on paper.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? I attended the Delta ATP-CTP in Atlanta.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 7 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? JKT–> RST, Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot, Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators, Old flight training books
COG–> RST Videos, PEBL program, Lumosity
Technical Test Questions Got some holding. Couple of top of decent. Some stability questions – lateral, longitudinal, Fwd or Aft CG, etc. Some Turbine Engine questions. Zero weather questions. It was a blur…RST prepared me well.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I shouldve looked over Jepp plates more. Not being familiar with them slowed me down on a couple of the questions referring to those types of plates
Cog Test RST worked great. I never saw Tito’s original COG trainer…only his videos and downloaded the PEBL trainer. It really is pretty easy so long as you focus and follow the instructions. COG math wasn’t that bad either. I didn’t get any reverse percentages. I had the proctor come reset me twice so I could practice just once more for a couple tests. Use the practice sessions to memorize the 123456 letter sequence – it’s the same for the test.
Cog Math Questions Nothing too cosmic. They move along quick so take a quick look at the answers as that may help you when you get in a bit of a time crunch. I didnt get any reverse percentages.
