Many other Ride Reports adequately and accurately describe the interview process itself, so I won’t spend too much time reciting what others have already mentioned. Suffice it to say that the gouge is spot on! Delta truly does go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and respected. They would not have brought you in if they did not want you to join the company. Try to relax, be yourself, and go get that CJO!
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite?
Did you attend a job fair?
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation?
How many internal recs did you have?
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview?
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork?
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview?
Technical Test Questions The JKT was the hardest part of my interview. The first several questions in a row were almost verbatim from RST study guides, practice tests, flash cards, etc. Then I went on a long streak of questions I had never seen before. As others have said, as long as you’re comfortable with the theories, then you can figure out the answer. I finished with 25 minutes to spare. I spent the remainder of the time double-checking my work. Some of the questions and answer options are worded in a way that really makes you read closely. Pay attention to detail.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Unfortunately, I was unable to commit any questions to memory. I only had a handful of math questions, mostly dealing with descent planning, and none of the other questions required any formulas or rules of thumb. I had numerous questions on aerodynamics and aircraft systems, but no questions on weather. The content itself was very straight forward. If you read Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot, Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators, The Turbine Pilot’s Flight Manual, and Mental Math for Pilots, you will be well prepared.
Cog Test The COG was very easy compared to the trainer. It’s a full size computer monitor that utilizes a stylus and touchscreen. The background is blue and all font is white. It’s a very simple visual display. Take your time and read the instructions carefully. There is no harm in having the proctor reset your computer to allow you more practice sessions before the test levels. Do not touch any key on the keyboard except what you are directed to press. Utilize the headphones to the left of your station and adjust the volume accordingly. My UXLTIO only came up once after the initial test.
Cog Math Questions
HR Questions My panel interview was amazing. As stated before, they really went out of their way to make me feel like I deserved to be there. I had a long interview at 90 minutes, but we spent the vast majority of time in general conversations, swapping stories, and hangar flying. Here are some of the actual questions I remember:
– Spend some time telling us about yourself
– What do you remember about your first solo?
– Why do you feel you would be a valuable asset to Delta?
– What do you think is your greatest personality characteristic?
– WWYD: First class pax drunk at gate. FA says no, agent says go.
– WWYD: You see your CA in the hotel bar 9 hrs prior to report.
– WWYD: You see a pilot in the employee lot, smells like alcohol.
– Anything else to add? Do you have any questions for us?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview?
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? I used Emerald Coast and it absolutely helped. I tuned in for a webinar, attended an in-person seminar, and completed a phone top-off. All of those events were very valuable.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
