General Overview of Experience (With the actual Interview Process) The interview was a fantastic experience. Other gouges are spot on. Everyone there is rooting for you and wishing you luck. First they took our logbooks while we waited to be escorted to the interview room by the pilot interviewer. I had 1 pilot 1 HR person present for mine. First they do a great job of calming your nerves. They give their intros and welcome you to take off your jacket and get comfortable. The HR portion was first.

TSA Scenario Experience in General Terms. The technical portion is very straight forward. Mock flight (XYZ-HHH), make sure you brief all items listed on the guide. I used my normal company brief with a few of the items they listed added in. Talked about the SID and what considerations need to be made for altitudes/terrain. Then fast forwarded to cruise, was given a generator fail. Just describe your process of working through an issue. Chose to continue on to HHH. Fast forwarded to the STAR, was ask what altitude to set for descend via clearance. What happens if they vector you off the arrival, the re-clear you to the final fix. Know the 3/1 rule. Was asked how many miles it would take to slow down 50 knots. Fast forward to the approach. Was told weather forced HHH to close, so we verbalized a go around. Was then told we were at min fuel. Asked what I would do at 45 mins of fuel. Explained fuel emergency, and chose to divert to a closer airport. Described the diversion process and talked about resources. They asked me to describe what CRM meant. That concluded the technical portion.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test?
HR Questions The standard 5 TMAAT questions all different. Prepare several stories just in case. I got asked two similar questions and was gonna use the same story for both, but they recognized that may last story fit the question and they pick another one.

TMAAT disagreement in cockpit.

TMAAT positive impact on customers/crew.

TMAAT regretted a decision.

TMAAT toughest experience as a leader.

TMAAT biggest professional accomplishment/how has that inspired others.

Took a short break after that before diving into the technical portion. The last question was “why United?” They gave me the opportunity then to ask questions, and then concluded the interview. Overall it was a great time. I was nervous walking in, but they are great at making you feel comfortable, which speaks to the culture at United tbh. Be yourself, try to enjoy the process, and know that they are taking the time to fly you in and spend the time to get to know you. They want to hire you.

How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 6 weeks
