Which Airline did you interview with? DAL
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 2 months between invite to interview; had 2 weeks availability listed
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process?
What is your experience? Military and 121
Total Flight Time 2,000-3,000
Total Turbine PIC Time 1,000-2,000
General Overview of Experience Excellent experience overall. As stated in previous reports, the entire Pilot Selection team wants you to earn a CJO.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Attended career expo and WAI in 2016; Internal rec was sent in Nov and invite received in late Dec.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST. Huge help for COG. The JKT was tough (not many questions were from the practice tests)!
Technical Test Questions The questions were all over the board. Not much math or weather. I’d focus on Aero and Engines/Systems
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I honestly can’t remember. It was a humbling test to say the least.
Cog Test Study RST and the COG webinar, you should be good to go. Know there will be some minor differences, but felt confident about the test after doing about 12 practice COGs.
Cog Math Questions Basic math. Make $0.25 day for 2 weeks, how much money will you have? I had a Distance=Rate x Time question. One train questions (left station at xx:xx, had 2×15 min stops, traveled for 3hrs30min…what time will it arrive).
HR Questions I did ECIC and have been thinking about the HR portion for about a year now. I can say that Tito’s HR wrap-up webinar and his explanation of the HR point system was an invaluable resource. I knew what they were grading and focused on scoring on those points that I knew I could earn. Be enthusiastic about flying (what is “IT” that gets you excited about aviation/Delta); they want to see work ethic; Leadership was brought up about 4 times (good/bad, who do you admire as a leader, what is your leadership style….; they want to know how you think (“well this is what I am thinking in this scenario”–picture yourself in a cockpit and deal w/ the given conflict/problem). I knew that I nailed the interview after walking out of the room…. BE CONFIDENT!!!! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!! TAKE DEEP BREATHS!!!
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 12 months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC, but I used some of my own style/techniques to stay away from the “canned answers”
Any additional information you would like to add. Try to relax as much as possible before the interview. Prepare yourself days before (you will not sleep well the night before)…get a massage, go to yoga, drink a beer, find something that calms your nerves. BE CONFIDENT, BE A LEADER, SHOW YOUR WORK, SHARE YOUR PASSION FOR AVIATION/DELTA
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No, but wished the others interviewing w/ me also got the CJO.
What can we do to improve our services? Nothing. Keep up the momentum. FB page is great…thank you!
Concepts not covered by RST They mentioned that more interviews will be picking up next week, and then WAI. The office is still under construction and slowing them down. They mentioned timeframe will be at least 4-6 weeks AFTER getting a call to start class (don’t know how long it will take to get a call, but plan 4-6 weeks after that….).
