General Overview of Experience Overall, good experience and nothing came as a surprise in the process/day of interviewing. I had attended several webinars for interview prep and had enough to talk about within the 45 min interview. Interviewers were all professional, courteous, and kept the mood light and conversational. MMPI is 567 questions of fun…no need to practice that IMO, just go with your first reaction. Visit with the shrink was virtual (like zoom) and was the only time the mask was off. I interviewed first (group), MMPI, lunch, CJO received, then shrink, urinalysis, fingerprints and paperwork. Our group was 17/18 for CJOs.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Unknown. I had internal recs but unknown if they triggered an app review.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 3 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. Brought all USAF FHRs (green folder), my two logbooks (baby pilot and professional one), and a consolidated print out of my now digital logbook. No questions or comments on anything. For those debating to tab, or not to tab…I had a few tabs in the older logbooks from when I transferred them both to digital, and I decided it wasn’t worth the time to remove them, so they stayed.
Technical Test Questions None.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? None.
HR Questions How would you deal with commuting? What was your hardest/most challenging flight? Please explain all your failed/hooked rides from UPT etc. (this was a surprise to me because he asked for every ride I failed in 4 years of undergrad flight training and USAF spanning 22 years. My advice, if you have failed any stage check, Checkride etc…be able to briefly talk about happened ). What would you do with a captain that doesn’t want to follow noise abatement? Describe good leadership. Describe what makes a good captain. When has someone questioned your leadership?
Cog Test RST practice and CUT-E helped a lot. Also used every practice test in each section of the test to get familiar with the specific layout etc.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 23 months. Continued prepping during 2020 and Covid.
How did you prep?  RST cog test practice and webinars
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help?  RST cog test practice and webinars
Any additional information you would like to add. Consider bringing an umbrella, apparently it rains a lot in ATL. Hotel (Hilton) is a 5-7 min walk from the building and they can/will store your luggage if you ask. Blue suits and red ties won’t make or break it…but they will be gently mocked. People cancel their interview slots several times per week. If you’re looking to move your interview date up and are prepared with all documents etc., keep calling and asking them.
Is there anything you wish you could have done differently to prepare you for this process? No.
