Which Airline did you interview with? Fedex
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 28 days between invite and interview
Did you receive a job offer? 12 months call back
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? Panel Interview if I had to guess
What is your experience? Military/135
Total Flight Time 2,000-3,000
Total Turbine PIC Time 1,000-2,000
General Overview of Experience Great experience and first class facilities. Everyone puts you at ease. Everyone felt like they failed the JKT as we walked out, but everyone passed. SBI was easy and I am guessing there was some hang up in my panel interview. I am sure it was the 20 minute discussion about a commander downgrade I have in my FEF (non flying related). I was happy to talk about it, however, it took 20 minutes away from me earning points on other questions, and I didn’t seem to be able to win them over at all…..which is not normal for me.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Updated the apps every 2 weeks.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? I noticed my hours were wrong on the pilotcredentials.com website so I corrected it just a few days after I got the invite. Still, when I showed up to interview, they had an old copy of my resume and flight hours from the pilotcredentials.com site. I brought the most current one with me and showed them the most current log books, excel printout. They didn’t seem to have a problem with any of it but who knows. No feedback was given.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? Studied my tail off using RST 15 day program/ground school/topical study guides. The COG was a breeze compared to RST cog prep. I also read some gouge printouts from a friend (found some mistakes). I took the practice tests and looked up the answers I did not know.
Technical Test Questions Cannot remember specifically but math was overall much easier than the math prep. No questions about RMI radial calculation, just a few descent questions, 70 percent aero questions concept questions, but phraseology is different than RST.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? You set 29.85 instead of 29.93. How far off altitude are you? High or low? (My brain was starting to feel fatigued so I had to think this one through and draw it)
Cog Test LOTUXI game was tricky only because I thought it was practice mode and showing the example of what the game looks like. I was cautious to commit to memory because I thought we were in practice mode. However, this was actually the same letter sequence that was on my test. Happened to the guy sitting next to me as well. Pay attention to that part and read those directions closely.
Cog Math Questions Much easier than the RST COG math prep. Glance at the answers to give you clues on word problems so you know what the are looking for.
HR Questions Tell me about yourself.
Have you used any interview prep services?
Have you ever had a professional failure?
What is one thing you would like to improve in your professional life?
Have you made any impact to the community?
WWYD if you had weather approaching and required you to take more fuel, would you take the delay or fly into the thunderstorm?
You have a captain who makes you late to the airplane because he is taking his sweet time visiting with his friends. How do you handle this situation?
Tell us how you logged your flight time.
Tell us about this downgrade in your Flight Eval Folder
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 2 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC a few months ago, then another in person seminar (was glad I did this). Finally a top off 1 week before the interview.
However, my interview was totally different from all of the ECIC prep questions with the exception of “tell me about yourself”
Any additional information you would like to add. Very disappointing and tough news. I know in my heart I would be a great fit here and could bring so much to this company. Thankful for the opportunity but holding my head high because I did my best to prepare and gave honest answers.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No.
What can we do to improve our services? Give explanations for the rest of the practice test questions, as well as source doc references with page number.
Also, please remind folks a few times about the Topical Study guides, just like you remind them about the ground school, because I did not realize each one of those bold topics was a hyperlink that would launch a new page….I didn’t realize how many there were of these and they are very clutch. Just wish I would have found them sooner.
Concepts not covered by RST None–overall was very helpful! Thanks Tito!!
