Which Airline did you interview with? | Delta
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? | 2 months btwn invite and interview, 2 weeks notice availability
Did you include volunteer work in your application?
Did you receive a job offer? | No 6, months re-invite, HR Failure
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? | Delta wasn’t my number 1 choice, a previous employer is, and they brought that up during the HR portion and I can only assume, did not like my answer.
What is your experience? | Military, 91
Total Flight Time | 3,000-4,000
Total Turbine PIC Time |
|
||||||
General Overview of Experience | Great experience overall as previous ride reports have mentioned. RST COG overprepares you for their version. HR was fine, no good cop bad cop, just a discussion really.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? | No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | Assuming the constant app updates once I upgraded and was able to log TPIC.
How many internal recs did you have? | 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | None
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? | RST
Technical Test Questions | Is what it is. Study as much as you can or feel comfortable with. I’d focus on areas you’re not 100% on, or stuff you haven’t read in a while. I had everything from jet engine systems, a couple easy pilot math problems, runway lighting, light gun signals, LOC/GS usable ranges, and LAHSO’s to name a few. The question bank is huge so just do the best you can.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | Nothing really in particular sticks out.
Cog Test | RST a few times and you’ll be fine.
Cog Math Questions | I was kind of worried about these but the ones on the actual test (I had 3-4) were elementary-middle school level math, so I was happy about that. Had to take my shoe off once to count on my toes.
HR Questions | Tell us about High school – now Why that college Jobs / volunteering during college Internship at previous employer details Why would you be a good fit at delta TMAAT conflict in cockpit TMAAT you made a tough decision Not getting along with Cap on your trip. completely shutting you down, no small talk just the required call outs and checklist items then staring out the window. How do you handle that? What’s your role as a Delta pilot / employee in public relations? Going to an airport, hour out, check ATIS and airport is closed, wwyd? Follow up, ok you’re going to to your alternate now, they tell you to hold, wwyd/what are you thinking? Follow on, in holding atc said original destination is back open, wwyd? Towards the end they brought up my internship again and asked why I wasn’t employed there currently as a pilot, I had said I wasn’t competitive yet, and I think they took that as me saying my previous employer was better than Delta or something because the follow on question was “why are you not competitive with them but you’re here with us now?” – and a stare down from the 2 pilots at the table with me haha. It was at that moment I started the back peddling but knew it probably wasn’t going to work out. |
||||||
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 3-4 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | ECIC. If I would have done the seminar or top off maybe, going to use them again for my next interview here soon for sure.
Any additional information you would like to add. | Ride reports are accurate. They try to make you feel relaxed, there’s no one watching you to make sure you recycle your water bottles etc etc. Barry tells you all this up front. Just go in there confident and comfortable, and 100% committed to Delta and I think you’ll be fine.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | Obv more HR prep but it is what it is. |
Great experience overall
