General Overview of Experience Great experience overall.
Show up day one and turn in the documents requested. No trick here.
The group gets split into either HR panel first or testing (cog, personality, jkt). Testing phase is about 2 hours and HR is about 45-50 minutes. Lunch is at their campus at the cafeteria which is fairly good with lots of options. We were out of there around 3:30 on day one. If selected for day 2 we were done at different times but I was out at 10am.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? internal rec earlier in the year and then updated daily for a month or two and heard back.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. I was a paper logbook guy at the start and brought my original with the endorsements then printed my electronic one and brought that as well. No questions at all.
Technical Test Questions Pretty much do the 15 day course and the ground schools as well as ALL quizzes and tests and you’ll be good. I’d spend just 30-45 minutes a week on cog per week and do 1-2 full test modes before and you should feel fairly good about it.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Nothing stood out. I know there are some frustrating moments while studying on RST but if you stick to the program you should feel fairly confident leaving the testing room. Mostly Aerodynamic and systems questions for me.
HR Questions My panel was great. They were friendly and inviting and put me at ease. They introduced themselves then gave you your shot in 3-4 minutes. We went over my application and was asked “why this school?” “tell us about these Cs” “what happened on this checkride” then about 4 WWYD questions. Everyone gets different ones so just take a moment to collect your thoughts and then knock each scenario one by one.
Cog Test
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 6 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. I’d recommend it to help gather your thoughts. I did two webinars, one quick fire, and a top off and that was plenty.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? When calling to schedule your interview don’t feel pressured to take the first one. They will offer one that is 4 or less weeks out but you sure can be flexible with it. I gave myself 8 weeks which was a bit much and would recommend 6 weeks if you can get it.
