Which Airline did you interview with? Delta
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? Avail to invite: 7 weeks, invite to interview: 6 weeks
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? N/A
What is your experience? Military
Total Flight Time 2,000-3,000
Total Turbine PIC Time >2,000
General Overview of Experience Great experience. Very friendly/welcoming atmosphere as previous ride reports have stated. Don’t psych yourself out. Do your best to be yourself, be confident, and stay positive. Be ready for a fair amount of waiting.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal rec
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. I was concerned that I didn’t have detailed pilot training data, just a summary. They didn’t say a thing about my logbooks or app.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST 15 day study program and EEPP
Technical Test Questions Felt well prepped for aero, engineering, & math questions. Was weak on systems. Had a holding turn direction question with a screen full of extraneous/unnecessary info. Had trouble with the following: why do generators use constant speed drive…stable voltage, amperage, or frequency? In a descent you notice cabin pressure inreases with an increase in power, what do you do with manual outflow valve…partly close valve and increase power, partly open and increase power, partly close and decrease power or partly open and decrease power? What is impact of temperature change on engine performance on flight from C-Spings to Albuquerque (elevations provided but no temperature provided)?
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? The performance impact due to temperature change mentioned above. I echo the comments about having to think through the aero & engine questions…they are worded differently enough to make you have to think/understand the concepts. If you’re acing the RST tests because you’ve seen the questions so many times that you’ve memorized the answers then you are not helping yourself. Flash cards/concepts are probably a better use of your time at that point.
Cog Test Again, as previously stated easier than RST. There are a lot of nuances that are different but they make the Delta test easier.
Cog Math Questions I’m terrible at math and thought this would be my worst part but did okay. Dinner tip of 15%, what is the bill-$20.70. Which is bigger- 1/2 of x, 1/3 of y, 1/4 of 2900 (sorry forgot the exact numbers, but they went from small to large and we’re close enough to not be obvious to me). Can’t remember the others
HR Questions 5 mins to talk about myself. Asked for more detail about what I did in high school (originally didn’t say anything other then when and where I graduated). Tell me about your biggest weakness in pilot training. WWYD if first class passenger thinks there is human (child) trafficking in coach. WWYD if lead Flt attendant complains about another Flt attendant being lazy. How will you handle not being in charge? You are commuting to NY, you miss your flight due to weather and Connor get to work in time-What do you do and what do you expect from Delta? TMAAT you had to deal with a conflict. TMAAT you lost creadibility and how you attempted to gain it back…were you successful?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 3 months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast
Any additional information you would like to add. It was 6 weeks from invite to interview. RST debrief form doesn’t have an option for more than 4 weeks.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? A little more time spent on systems, but otherwise no. RST is a fantastic prep course.
