If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process?
What is your experience? 121 only
Total Flight Time 5,000-8,000
Total Turbine PIC Time 1,000-2,000
General Overview of Experience Great overall experience.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? No attended 3 job fairs and never got a call. Finally got a call after app being in for 3+ years
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None, make sure your app and logbook is perfect, get it done now so you can concentrate on studying and avoid these questions.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? Studied everyday for a month, took quiz, read topical study guides, read T34, Everything Explained
Technical Test Questions Can’t remember them specifically but I will say this they are very poorly worded/written. Some of them I would go as far as saying you are gonna have to guess.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? A question that had to do with the ratio of lift/drag when AOA is decreased versus AOA less than or greater than L/D Max and a question regarding when Dihedral was effected. I have been flying for 15 years and never knew either of these at anytime in my career.
Cog Test RST is good but BE CAREFUL, there are some big differences in the LOC/# recall. The actual test will not let you select the # until it disappears and a new # appears and it flashes VERY QUICKLY. Memorize the pattern flashes in maybe 2 seconds so take a mental pic and be ready. Guess the Rule is very tough and the sound it makes will confuse you whether you got it right or wrong, if you get 2 wrong in a row it turns into straight guessing and I think this could have been my downfall. COG math study fractions and %’s I had these got thru 5 but know I got 2 wrong.
Cog Math Questions Fractions and %’s
HR Questions The HR panel was great and I thought it went very well. Be YOURSELF and just tell them what you would do, don’t overcomplicate it and don’t rehearse your answers cause they will know and you will not score well. These people do this hundreds of times a week and are experts in weeding out bull so again be yourself.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview?
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC and yes it helps you format your answers but they are gonna ask if you had prep and I answered honestly “YES” and saw a look of displeasure from a panel member. I went on to say how much I wanted the job and how I took the opportunity very seriously and did everything I could to be the best applicant I could be but in the end I think they are not happy with all the prep people are getting and they think it keeps you from being yourself, just my opinion but take this seriously we had 5 HR failures in my group.
Any additional information you would like to add. I am all about being prepared but in regards to the JKT test I think there is something to be said for luck of the draw with the question bank you get. Some people said it was easy and honestly I walked out of there feeling like an idiot. In regards to the personality test answer honestly, you can’t beat this thing by overthinking it.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Should have studied more Aero
What can we do to improve our services? RST was great, I highly recommend and will be utilizing it every week until my 6 months is up!
Concepts not covered by RST A lot on the JKT, I think the Everything Explained book helps a lot but I think the question bank is so large you would have to study for a year.
