Which Airline did you interview with? | Delta Air Lines |
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability?
Did you receive a job offer? | Yes |
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? | N/A |
What is your experience? | Military |
Total Flight Time | 1,000-2,000 |
Total Turbine PIC Time | < 1,000 |
General Overview of Experience | Having never done a job interview before, this was the most pleasant experience (while stressful) I could imagine. I’m extremely excited for the future with this company. They are first class all the way. |
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | <60 days |
Did you attend a job fair? | Yes |
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | OBAP. Also an internal rec hand walked my resume to pilot hiring. Not sure which one triggered the call. |
How many internal recs did you have? | 1-2 |
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 4 weeks |
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | No. highly recommend putting in the time to manually input your logbook into LogTenPro or whatever program you’re using. It allows you to become refamiliarized with your flying history and catch mistakes. |
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? | RST hard for 4 weeks. 4-8 hours a day, 6 days a week. |
Technical Test Questions | I was heavy on aero and engines. Only had 2 math questions which were both super basic descent profiles. 1 holding question. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | I don’t have a particular, but as others have said the test will make you compare different theories in order to come up with the right answer. Just put in the time to go through tito’s material. You have to pay to play at Delta. Do the right thing and go 110% with your studying. |
Cog Test | Easy. I was scoring high 700’s on RST. Cog is a non-factor. If you test first, COG is the first test you get. Try and relax before you start. |
Cog Math Questions | I’m horrible at math, I think I got 4 of 6. |
HR Questions | Very conversational. As a Landing Signals Officer, the panel was asking me questions about landing on an aircraft carrier for what seemed like the first half of the hour. If the panel wants to talk about something you are not prepared for, but is softball territory (I played hockey and golf in college) let them talk and ask the easy stuff. All three of HR panel were older men, so golf was an easy anchor point. Is it ok the lie to passengers? What about a white lie? What would one of your referrals say about you ( think why should we hire you) What was the most stressful part of flight school for you? Why Delta? How many students have you disqualified at the boat and how did you handle that? Captain is off altitude on a STAR during all legs of a trip. Wwyd. When and how would you approach him? Are you planning on doing the reserves? |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 10 months |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | I went to my first ECIC seminar 10 months before my interview. Went to a second a month and a half prior and did a webinar and top off the week prior to polish up. I know it’s been said in the past, but if they get a whiff of you being canned or even too rehearsed, it’s going to go downhill quick. I think taking a pause or showing a struggle as you tackle a tough question is a very positive thing. Even if you have some canned list answers, practice pausing and making it sound a little off the cuff. Just my humble opinion of how the HR went. |
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | I would have started studying JKT earlier but only because I was stressed with all the info. 4 weeks was plenty of time and I made it work, but more time to prep with be easier on you. |
What can we do to improve our services? | Keep the updates coming. I would have this job without Tito and his team. |
Concepts not covered by RST | None. |
