Technical Test Questions No test questions. Considerations of going into mountainous terrain to an airport with weather at mins. Considerations etc. This is the one the HR rep asked about as well. There was another one that had weather considerations but can’t recall. Just get the current gouge from those on RST who have gone in the last few months and you’ll have the 99% solution. Just realize there are interview pilots that have different opinions on the same questions. We had people who answered the exact same thing about divert considerations and two interviewers liked it and 2 didn’t. It’s a human process. Just be respectful and calm because there’s really no “wrong” answer if you have the credentials to be at the interview and have a reasonable answer…even if they disagree. The pilot who’s interviewers didn’t like their answer got hired.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? None were tough. Had one that I hadn’t prepped for but all the TMAAT and scenario gouge I studied/prepped for gave me the tools to answer confidently.
HR Questions Asked about my civilian busted instrument check back in 1987 and if I’d failed anything else. Said no because I never busted a form-8 military check ride.
Asked to explain one of the same pilot oriented questions in laymen’s terms for a non-flyer. Really nice and welcoming lady.
Cog Test Just painful. Get through it and don’t throw the computer through the wall. Some parts are designed to get harder and stress you I think. Others are just long/monotonous to see if you break down or give up. Plenty of gouge out there but it didn’t really help.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? Not just HR, TMAAT and scenario prep with squadron bros who’d been through the process before me. About a month to write notes and prep stories on and off but a few days more intense just prior to game day.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? None
Any additional information you would like to add. The American interview is a great process. Everyone in the office is super nice helpful and genuinely happy you’re there. It’s really yours to screw up once you get to DFW.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No. I felt well prepared especially when I showed up and interacted with the other interviewees and we compared notes. As long as you prep and feel comfortable you’ll do great.
