Which Airline did you interview with? FedEx
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 5 weeks
Did you include volunteer work in your application? No
Did you receive a job offer? 12 months reapply
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? I think I spent too much time on the COG prep and wasn’t as sharp as I could have been on the HR day
What is your experience? Military, 91
Total Flight Time 5,000-8,000
Total Turbine PIC Time
TPIC 121 hours 0
TPIC Military hours >2000
TPIC 91/135 500-1000
General Overview of Experience From what I observed, several of the interviewees thought the SBI was tougher than expected. They are very serious about the integrity of their process so that is all I will say about the SBI. The HR panel was straight forward. They really want you to tell your story in an interesting way, not just recite all your qualifications and career history.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? No
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST
Technical Test Questions RST
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? The math on lead radials for turns is easy but you need to make sure you know how to round it and which formula to use because the answers all very close together. But overall I felt very well prepared for this portion.
Cog Test
Cog Math Questions It was straight forward. The RST type of practice with reverse percentages and matrices helped. There was only one question that I just guessed at and moved on.
HR Questions Tell your story and give some good personal history is my recommendation. Tell them what you like to do when off duty and why. The EC prep was spot on in this area. One thing I would add is to make sure you understand what they are actually asking and how they want you to respond. So clarify it with them before you bore them. They are reading from a list of standard questions and the questions are tools that they use because they really want to get to know you. The last thing you want to do is answer a question you rehearsed instead of what they really asked and then second guess yourself the whole way home.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 3 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. Yes it did but the SBI is a level harder in my opinion. I saw some very talented pilots come out of it saying they barely got through it in time.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
