General Overview of Experience I truly enjoyed the interview experience, they are super friendly and professional. Don’t stress yourself too much, be professional, act like how you would if you were already a Delta pilot. They want someone to represent the brand, live up to customer’s expectations, and is a good leader/has potential to be one. Half of the candidates will take the tests in the morning, and interview in the afternoon, vice versa. Don’t let your guard down on Day 2 either, it’s a really quick day, paperwork, MMPI, drug test, psychologist, fingerprint, photo, and you are done. Most people are out by 11am. Don’t get too comfortable with the psychologist, 1/3 of our group got sent to PARB (for review), which is not a fun thing.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Job fair
How many internal recs did you have? 0
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None, got my logbooks back after the interview, never talked about it.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST 15 day checklist, did all the flashcard, quizzes and tests. I didn’t read all the materials, I used the quizzes and tests as a guide to see what area I didn’t really understand, and read upon those things. I do recommend as least read the basic operation of a turbine engine and compressor stalls though. Cog is easy, I wouldn’t worry about it too much, slight difference.
Technical Test Questions There were a few I had was the exact from RST, including a math question about when to start descent, you are at 1500 AGL, going 230 kts, and approach speed is 130, blah blah, the answer is 15nm.
A question about VASI, you are flying B777, coming to landing, which bars would you look at? Near and Middle; Far and Middle; Near and Far; all three.
I didn’t have any VOR or NDB stuff which was great because I sucked at those.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Nothing particular hard, if you have a good foundation of aeronautical knowledge, most of the questions you can make logical guesses if you don’t already know the answer.
Cog Test
Cog Math Questions I did have 3 or 4 reverse percentage questions which surprised me a little. I took extra time with those, you have plenty of time, don’t rush, try to get the correct answer, accuracy over speed.
HR Questions Tell me about yourself from high school.
You seem like a busy person in college, how did manage to do so well still?
Captain won’t fly the noise abatement procedure, what would you do?
We were delayed for maintenance, captain wants you to tell the customers that it’s for weather, what would you do?
If we were delayed for (i don’t remember what it was for, but something small) 20 min, what would you tell the pax?
They had me make a PA.
Tell me about a time you had a conflict with another crew member.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 1 month
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC, first I wasn’t sure if this was worth it. I felt good about HR, but I didn’t want to take the chance. I think the most valuable thing was the professional feedback from these experienced counselors, my first webinar I was too nervous to answer the questions the way I wanted to, but after a couple of these webinars, I felt so much more comfortable. Top off is a great confidence boost, it is one on one and you get so much personal attention.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
