General Overview of Experience It was a great experience, the interview team does everything they can to make you feel comfortable so that they can see the real you. RST and general gouges completely prepared me for all of the testing portions. I used Emerald Coast for the HR which is great! Missed the HR portion by a few points and was invited back in 6 months.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite?
Did you attend a job fair?
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation?
How many internal recs did you have?
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview?
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork?
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview?
Technical Test Questions RST is a must and will have you completely prepared for all of the tests as long as you put your time in. As said before, know the concepts! Many questions are confusing and it is easy to narrow down to 2 answers, but it can be tough to chose the correct one. I don’t remember specific questions as it was a stressful day, just know the concepts and you will not have any issues.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test?
Cog Test The cog test was as expected with no real surprises. I thought the localizer was easy during the test on interview day, but then it was tough while testing. Make sure you get plenty of practice with the cog trainer and do a webinar and you will be fine. Without practicing this prior to going in, I could see how people would mess this portion up.
Cog Math Questions
HR Questions The panel introduced themselves and layed out the plan for the interview, they were very conversational making me feel at ease for the rest of the interview. Intro 3-5 min. They asked me very few questions on my application other than why I chose another flight school for my CFI and CFII. I did not get any questions on grades in college, speeding tickets, or my attendance. I had 2 paper logbooks with everything tabbed (all checkrides and training events) and also my log ten pro printed with all of my 121 time in a nice binder. They were very impressed with my logbooks and had no questions. Throughout the entire interview they were very conversational but provided little to no feedback. They said everything looked good on my application and they would just roll into the questions. The one interviewer told me all the questions would be random which he got off a list on his tablet.
-What resources do you have available if you have problems with a passenger?
-FO not wearing his hat, how are you going to handle it? Continues to not wear his hat..
-What do you do now in cruise? Do you allow other to read?
-What are you doing currently to further your education? I was caught a little by surprise for this one and said I would have to think about it, they quickly moved on and I forgot to come back to this question. I think the lack of points for this cost me the CJO. I was told at the end of the day that I was very close but just barely missed the minimum points needed for the HR portion and was invited back in 6 months.
-Muslim Cleric on board and a million mile customer refuses to fly with him on board because they don’t feel safe. How would you handle it?
-The CA you are flying with constantly flies 10 knots fast and is high on approaches. How do you handle it? He says he is saving the company money and it works perfectly every time, won’t change his ways. Do you make him go around?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview?
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? I used Emerald Coast for the interview prep and would highly recommend. I do wish I had a little more time to attend another seminar or was able to go to an in person event. Get an early start and attend as many events as you can.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
