Which Airline did you interview with? American
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? Date availability: Immediately, video invite Feb, two days later request for more info, F2F interview 1 month later.
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? N/A
What is your experience? Military
Total Flight Time 2,000-3,000
Total Turbine PIC Time 1,000-2,000
General Overview of Experience It was a great experience and was exactly like previous trip reports. Day 1, HR paperwork followed by PST, had a 0800 show-time and finished by 1130, rest of the day is yours to do as you please. Day 2, meet at HR, museum, Pilot interview, then HR interview. After the interview, HR walks with you then you are released to grab your gear and head to the airport. Bus schedule from La Quinta to AAL is every top of the hour and 30 mins past the hour 0700-0730-0800-0830 etc. AAL back to La Quinta 0715-0745-0815-0845 etc. it’s a 5-10 min bus ride. Once you land at the airport call the La Quinta inn and they will send a bus to come get you.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? I have no idea, I have no internal recs, I did update app with relevant information (DL#, C-172 hours).
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 3 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. I brought exactly what they asked. I did not do any summary or tabs, literally gave them my AF green HARM folder and civilian logbook with C-172 time. There is a lot of chatter on Social Media about what folks did for different airlines, my advise is provide what the company wants and nothing more.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? Played Luminosity/Playstation (memory games, math, hand eye coordination) and tried to get a good nights sleep. Also reviewed gouge out there that tells you what the test consists of. Stay focused and do your best not to skip questions and grind it out for 3.5hrs.
Technical Test Questions TMAAT’s were the same as previous trip reports. Nothing new.
WWYD’s, the only new question was (haven’t seen it on previous trip reports): You’re #12 out of 20 AC waiting for takeoff. AC takeoff every 1min 50 sec, you are max gross weight and was planned originally for 7kt headwind and 25°C. While waiting the weather changes to a 5kt quartering tailwind and temperature rises to 27°; WWYD?
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? N/A
Cog Test N/A
Cog Math Questions No paper or pencil allowed. Try to think it out, got some right and got some wrong and guessed on a few.
HR Questions Started off with follow-ups to my Pilot F2F interview. “Explain to me in layman’s terms why you chose your course of action”. What could you do as a pilot to save the company money?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 1 month
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC
Any additional information you would like to add. A lot of previous trip reports talk about how you should act. “Once you leave your house for the interview you’re on the interview”. I believe that you should be yourself and do what you think is right. I started this trip stressed and paranoid about everything, once I got to the hotel I was like forget it, you’re here cause they want to meet you and they like what they have seen on paper and whatever else they can find on the internet. Be the professional pilot that you are and enjoy the fact you’re there for an interview.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
