Technical Test Questions I don’t remember any particularily challenging/unexpected questions. There may have been 1 or 2 identical to the RST question bank, but the rest were conceptually consistent with the RST ground school materials and 15-day checklist study guide reviews. Lots of engine and aerodynamics questions. Standard.. know the concepts, not just rote memorization.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Nothing stood out as that particularly hard/difficult. RST will prepare you adequately.
Cog Test COG trainer is good practice. HIGHLY recommend listening to Tito’s COG webinar. It had some very useful information on the differences between the trainer and the real test. I thought the “number recall/keep jet on the line” section was the most different… highly recommend you do the practice sessions for this one before you do the scored portion. The numbers flash much more slowly, but the arrow sensitivity is very different than the COG trainer. Just like Tito says, tap… not hold.
Cog Math Questions I thought they were about as challenging as the COG trainer math questions. None of them were the same as the trainer. This was the most challenging part of the COG test. A few percentage questions, and distance questions.
HR Questions They introduced themselves very briefly, then got me to sign my application/initial the date of availability. They worked very hard to put me at ease, then got right into the questions. These were the questions I can remember:
Tell me about your education and employment from high school on. Did you think your college was a good choice? Who is a leader you most admired/respected in your career thus far, and why? What has been your most rewarding job so far in your career? Do you think it is ever necessary for a FO to take the aircraft from the CA? WWYD if your FO was completing your checklist items for you when they weren’t supposed to? WWYD if several passengers were expressing concerns over some muslim clerics on your flight? TMAAT when you had a conflict with a co worker. How did you prepare for this interview?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 2 months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC/RST. Both helped. With regards to ECIC, don’t look to memorize answers/scenarios, just use it to learn how to effectively communicate… just like any other interview prep.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
