General Overview of Experience Just like what everyone else said, a First class experience from the beginning to the end! What a professionally run organization. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was helpful, FRIENDLY, and they were rooting you on to succeed. I paid attention to the Delta team members who were on campus doing their business, and everywhere I looked people were pleasant and nice.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal recs most likely, but I will say this – I went and took my Mil equivalent instructor exams and got my CFI, CFII, and MEI. The day after I received those certificates and I clicked those boxes in my app, I received an email invite to interview. Could be coincidence, but I would do all you can if you are military to get your FAA certifications and type ratings (if you qualify for those).
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None.
Technical Test Questions JKT was straight forward and the study materials more than covered it. I took my time and finished with 30 seconds left after reviewing all my answers one more time. If the problem is hard, skip it and go back later.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I must have been lucky, but the material covered was what they said they would cover and what RST preps you for. I did also read Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot several times and that helped round out the study prep.
HR Questions The HR team was GREAT! I enjoyed the time talking with Delta professionals about the topic of flying. It went by quick. VERY professional. I talked about what got me into flying, went thru my app, schooling, UPT busts, jobs, etc. WWYD if lightning within 5 miles and passengers want to know why you aren’t taking off, WWYD with a reported loud bang aft. after TO. TMAAT when subordinates disagreed with one of your decisions or policy. how did you handle it? Why Delta?
Cog Test Review June’s trip reports, I was in that flight of interviewees and agree with what they said. The “new” cog resources are more than enough for you to crush it, don’t worry. The biggest issue was the timing of and learning of the computer system presented. For example, one time I thought I was practicing since all the previous modules had practice, then I found out that it was the real test times to see how many iterations you get in a certain amount of time! I was lolly gagging along thinking it was practice. That was the only issue. Lesson learned, read CAREFULLY the directions. I practiced some of the harder tests at the end several times, which prompted a reset of the computer by the proctor, which was no problem at all. Glad I practiced extra.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast for interview prep, checked and set for additional application review on top of RST application review.
Any additional information you would like to add. Not at this time.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No, RST is a class act. Thank you team for prepping me for a successful CJO!
