Which airline did you interview with? | Delta |
What was the time period between application submission and interview invitation? | 31-180 days |
Total Flight Time | 1,501-2,000 hours |
Is there something that triggered your invite? | I’m not certain, but my best guess would be an excellent record from college and only one checkride failure. |
What was your overall experience ? (Big Picture) | Overall, the experience was very pleasant. Dorothea and John Buxton do an excellent job keeping you informed and try to minimize your stress as much as possible. Some applicants will interview first and others will take the MMPI; everything is thoroughly explained and briefed first. The panel interview was very professional and tailored to my experience level, with the usual TMAAT questions and WWYD scenarios from the captain’s perspective. You’ll be asked 8 questions total, 3 of which are off the app and the other 5 are fixed the morning of the interview. After receiving the CJO, paperwork and processing is quick and easily guided through. |
What questions did they ask during the panel interview? | 1. TMAAT you had to meet a tight deadline 2. WWYD if the FA tells you she thinks a group of pax are drunk, but the gate agent knows them personally and tells you they’re fine? 3. Why Delta? 4. WWYD if the gate agents are understaffed and rushing the FAs to board quickly, but the FAs are running behind getting the airplane ready? 5. What’s your leadership style? Who is a leader you look up to and why? 6. Why Delta? 7. Asked if I was okay commuting 8. Asked about my membership in another major airline’s flow program |
Was there anything unexpected? | Not exceedingly. I expected to be asked about my 1 checkride failure but this didn’t come up. I was also surprised that the questions seemed to reflect my relatively low experience level rather than requiring me to draw on lots of command experience that I don’t have yet (aside from a few WWYDs). |
Is there anything you wished you would have done differently? | I feel like I got a little psyched out by the Psychological Interview after receiving the CJO – just try to be calm and be yourself, and you’ll have no problems! Everyone is truly in your corner here. |
