Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Updated my app with my medical. Keep those apps updated!
It only gave me the option of 1-2 internal Rec’s but I had none… I knew no one at FedEx
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None at all. Followed RST example and got it printed at FedEx office with a FedEx logo on cover sheet.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST. There is NO substitute
Technical Test Questions As advertised. Use RST but don’t memorize the test. Know why the answer is correct and you’ll be fine.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Aero. Lots of concepts. Eat the elephant one bit at a time and the concepts will sink in.
Cog Test Easier then RST. I was scoring a 95% on cog test at home and took it every day for muscle memory. Also, be sure to watch the webinar on the cog.
Cog Math Questions Mine were easy. Plenty of time to answer.
HR Questions Tough. I got two stone faced retired Capt’s. After my introduction they started asking about a checkride failure and a brief training failure. It felt like it set a negetive mood for the interview. Lots of confrontation questions.
“What would you do if the FO was not on board with a decision you made”.
“Give me an example of a leadership failure you’ve had”.
Then a few standard
“where do you see yourself in 10 years?” and “what are the hubs, domiciles for FedEx?”
“Do you know what a hub turn is”.
“Explain difference between tired and fatigued”. “How do you handle fatigue across different time zones?”
“Have you done standups, CDOs, or high speeds?”
I stayed calm and answered their questions. Tried to keep it light. Talked about my family as much as possible. After the closed their books then they were nice, smiled and we just shot the stuff for a few mins.
Honestly, I’m surprised I got the CJO. Just didn’t feel the HR portion went well enough. I was thrilled when I received the call that evening and I’m so excited to join the FedEx family!!
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 30 days
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald coast. They don’t want the canned answers but it’s was good to be able to organize my thoughts and stories so I could communicate them properly.
Any additional information you would like to add. The SBI was as emerald Coast advertised. Just make sure to not die by the gouge. Learn the process to include the debrief. Write of the whole thing on a white board and make sure to list what you did well, what you didn’t do well, and what you would change…
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Started earlier. I wish I had attended emerald coast seminar before I got the interview. I was able to get one last minute but that was lucky. Do yourself a favor, study now and get to a emerald coast seminar asap.
