General Overview of Experience Most of the interview was as posted previously. Started with the simulator, I got the 757. Then about 2 hrs with 1 HR person and 1 retired Captain. In the building at 8am done by 11:30. I would say it was friendly and efficient.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? <60 days
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? JOB FAIR. At the fair, talked with a UPS FO and HR who took down my email address for tracking purposes. HR gave me her card and told me to call her the next week and remind her we talked.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 7 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No. I did have questions about PRIA paperwork and they were very quick to respond to my emails. Also, they had me sign for my hours totals at the end of the interview.
Technical Test Questions No test, but was asked about crew oxygen requirements and max holding airspeeds. Also, during sim: divert math calculation while hand flying, and unquenchable cargo fire scenario (talk thru) while hand flying.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? none or see above.
HR Questions The questions ran the spectrum of possible questions, including: Intro, why UPS, why not FEDEX, TMAAT questions, WWYD: Capt’s unstable on approach. fatigue. Brand Image management. what do you bring to the company? what would your friends say about you? How many customers are served per flight on UPS compared to PAX airlines? (much more). “you said you did your research about UPS, what surprised you most about what we do?” (I used Supply chain solutions). Did you use an interview prep service…for this interview portion? for the sim? It looks like you do volunteer work, do you plan to continue this if you are hired with UPS and how?
Cog Test none
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 3 months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast, it did, but I should have practiced my TMAAT list questions more. I focused mostly on company knowledge like who the founding fathers were, rather than my own stories. I was surprised by the TMAAT questions, based on all the gouge I was reading about how UPS interviews compared with other airlines.
Any additional information you would like to add. in the question above regarding volunteer work in the application, there is no place for that in their application, but volunteer work was in my resume. I believe it helped.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? More telling my stories out loud to friends.
