General Overview of Experience | The gouges are extremely accurate and my experience was very straightforward. Knowing what to expect kept my stress level low. Started with testing in the morning. Cog was very easy if you have done RST. JKT I think I got lucky and drew easy questions. I did very little calculations. Plenty of aero, turbine, and FAR questions. I had a quick lunch and was called to do the HR right after. The interview was friendly, pleasant, and quick. The day felt like it went by very fast and the waiting was a little stressful and felt long as people were slowly being pulled away one by one. It was a great feeling when cpt. Holmes walked in and said congratulations.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? | No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | Internal rec sent to selection team.
How many internal recs did you have? | 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | No. I had two paper logbooks tabbed with check rides. One digital logbook, signed every page and no tabs Included flight time summary with basics including total time, TPIC, Total jet time. Also included significant events with dates (check rides, new jobs).
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? | RST. I only took about 10rst cog tests total and watched the webinar. I wanted to be comfortable with the techniques and felt it was sufficient. First month spent mostly all on JKT RST checklist and second month almost exclusively HR.
Technical Test Questions | Very straightforward. What is EPR, timing for wake turbulence, descent calculations, given radials and determine holding entry, AC lies and DC dies. Very similar to RST questions. Do all the practice test you can and I’m guessing you will not be surprised. |
||||||
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | I felt very prepared and I think I got a little lucky and the questions seemed easy, very similar to RST.
Cog Test | I only did 10 practice tests which was just enough to be comfortable with the concepts. I felt comfortable on game day. On the actual test take the practice test only twice or else it will lock up. The admin can reset it so it’s not a big deal but that will make it smoother. I locked it up once.
Cog Math Questions | Easier than RST
HR Questions | Tell us about yourself. Good academic record, what do you attribute it to No check ride failures, what do you attribute it to Tell me about your volunteer stuff TMAAT conflict with a captain WWYD captain wants you to lie to pax and say the delay is on weather when it is actually on MX WWYD loud bang in the Back of the airplane. FA and pax are concerned. Instruments and pressurization normal. It is a short flight. Have you every had a mechanical issue or emergency? |
||||||
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | A little 8 months ago in a failed interview at another airline but very heavily 1 month prior
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | Centerline, Keith was great. Also read checklist for success by cage consulting. Also did aero Crew solutions mock interview. All were very helpful and so was my wife and just talking through questions, even easy ones, was very valuable.
Any additional information you would like to add. | Wishing you the best of luck! The gouges are awesome.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | No |
