General Overview of Experience Military/121
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Addition of 121 experience potentially trigger the invite.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No issues with logbooks or app. Make sure to read the addendum questions closely. They want you to list any training failures and they will probably ask you about them.
Technical Test Questions I actually had quite a few math questions which was good because I practiced the math. A few of the questions I had no idea what the correct answer was. The JKT and COG balance each other out on the end result so I think that helped.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I don’t remember any specific questions. I just know if I didn’t know the answer I made an educated guess and pressed on to the next question.
HR Questions Friendly interview team. Mostly asked questions about my application. They asked about my training. They just want to see how you handle conflict and stressful situations.
Cog Test Take your time on the practice examples to make sure you understand the concepts. The jet brain games actually did help me prep. Actual COG test was easier than Jet brain games. Most said not to worry about the COG but made sure I was ready for them and I think that helped balance out any shortfalls from the JKT but honestly I have no idea.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? About a month. Any more than 5 weeks and I would be afraid I would burn out, but it takes a lot of time to review everything so plan accordingly so you don’t get in a time crunch.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC. The ECIC counselors have always been very helpful at helping me re-cage mentally to think like an interviewer so I can take my own personal stories and express them concisely and bring out the ideal highlights that the interview team is looking to see…which at the end of the day is the real you.
Any additional information you would like to add. Give yourself time to study. Try to keep in mind that you wouldn’t be there if they did not want to hire you. They expect you to be human so mistakes are ok. Take ownership of any mistakes in your career and show how you have grown/learned.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
