Technical Test Questions Nothing stood out that wasn’t covered in RST prep. Close to half of my questions were verbatim from the prep tests but talking with other people, they didn’t recognize a single question. Maybe 5 were similar wording with different answers and the rest were concepts explained while studying. I only had 1 “math” question referencing LOC course deviation at a specific distance.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Again, nothing stood out as terribly difficult as long as you put the time into studying. I had one question about abandoning an approach prior to the FAF but the missed approach altitude is lower than your current altitude; what altitude do you fly and when do you proceed to the hold.
HR Questions I was one of the last of the 15 to interview so I had plenty of time to get worked up over it. All the pressure of HR is 100% self induced. I wouldn’t say the panel was overly welcoming but not cold either, just down to business and getting to the questions after their intros. They didn’t care to know much of any personal background in my intro as I was told to save that and focus on my professional career.
They seemed to question my lack of job history, CFI-RJ FO-RJ CA. They asked “how are you experienced and how did you get that experience”? I was caught off guard by that and felt as I had to defend that I hadn’t jumped jobs to get there.
How are you going to handle commuting to ATL or NYC?
WWYD-CA lined up on wrong runway and brushes off any of your concerns/input.
WWYD-As CA, senior FAs are complaining about previous pax and last flight and don’t want to board yet, just want some time to breath.
WWYD-In a 3rd world country headed back to ATL someone is accused of human trafficking. Lots of back and forth on this question based on the direction I headed with it. Last question was would you take them or leave them in the 3rd world country? I took them so authorities in the US who are equipped to deal with such a thing could follow up.
TMAAT-You went above and beyond the call of duty to save the companies image that otherwise would have damaged it? I felt like I dropped the ball on this one. Started talking through a story with no real end or relevance. Once I finally shut up he even looked at me and said “so thats what you’re going with”. That allowed me to gather myself and come up with a better answer which they seemed to like and moved on.
There was one more WWYD question but honestly cannot remember what it was in reference to.
Again, all the pressure is self induced and they want you to walk out of there successful. Take a few seconds of pause and even a sip of water before answering.
Cog Test MUCH easier than RST version but wouldn’t have done well without that prep. Having a touch screen on the actual test makes everything easier as well.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 3 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Centerline; one long in depth FaceTime and a second quick patch up a few days prior to the interview.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Nothing really. But for 6 weeks I spent nearly all of my spare time preparing for this. I would have liked a little more time to boost the confidence if I could go back. 6 weeks is enough time but know there is a lot of information to absorb. Study early, study often!
