General Overview of Experience Good, nothing unique from previous reports
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Attended Delta ATP-CTP but got the invite prior to pulling that trigger. Probably triggered by internal rec 2-3 months prior.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No
Technical Test Questions Nothing stands out
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Not hard, maybe just not covered in my studying. Combined crosswind calculation with a limit. Headed into a NY airport, with snow and a crosswind. Two airplanes prior reports fair braking, one plane prior reports poor braking. With poor braking condition you’re out of limits (after you figure out the crosswind component) Do you go around based on that or can you accept the PIREP from two planes ago?
HR Questions At cruise, fire light, retard throttle light goes out. Advance throttle light comes back. Dispatch wants you to fly split throttle 90 minutes to destination. WWYD.
Just off IOE, Capt is being mean to you. Says you’re the worst FO he’s ever seen.
Approaching 8 hours to report (but not there yet), Capt still at the bar. Next morning, doesn’t show for the crew bus, bellman passes message that he’ll see you at the airport.
Cog Test The games are eerily similar to the jet brain games. Went through the JBG twice to get a sense of them. That’s good enough. Read the instructions. Only thing worth practicing is the “select the previous number” quiz.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 6 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald coast. It helped but don’t get too caught up in the method. I did a webinar early in the process which got me thinking about the 5-6 stories I’d use to fit to whatever questions I got. Did a top off a few days prior and focused on things outside my experience, mainly 121-specific hypotheticals. Best advice, after any question, ask qualifying questions… where am I, how much fuel, what’s the weather, am I the Captain in this scenario etc etc. Don’t just start answering. Gives you time to think and makes you seem like you’re collecting information like you would in a given scenario.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
