General Overview of Experience Overall it is a very pleasant experience. You will be very nervous no matter what but they know that and they do their best to calm you down. If you want to win some brownie points make sure to bring your best smile, remember everyones name (I brought the hotel pen and notepad so I could write down everyones name when no one was looking, just incase I forgot), and have zero negativity.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal Letter of Rec.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. Some guys took extra time to get all the two stacks of paper they want together. I suggest separating the two piles with paperclips before you get there.
Technical Test Questions One that stood out to me that I couldn’t remember was something to do with what would you do if you were on final and the three light PAPI indicated two white and one red? I’ve never seen a three light PAPI before…
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? For me it was the cog trainer mental math. You only get 5 questions of mental math each timed around 30 seconds to answer. Everyone gets different questions but mine were all converting percentages. You don’t even get pen and paper so it was honestly a guess on every question. I wouldn’t stress about it too much. There were 2 questions I didn’t even answer and I still passed.
HR Questions I was very nervous even though I had done several moc interviews leading up to the day. I didn’t answer everything perfectly by any means. They are looking for honesty and confidence that you stick to your guns. I had the classic WWYD if you just finished a trip and and you go to get on a bus home when your pilot pal is gets off the bus to start a trip and you smell alcohol on his breath? I also had Why would Delta be a good fit for you?
Cog Test I used Lumosity and the games RST put on. Practice the games a few times before the interview and you will be fine.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 2 months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? None. Yes
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
