Which Airline did you interview with? | Delta |
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? | 1 month invite to interview, 2 weeks availability |
Did you receive a job offer? | Yes |
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? | n/a |
What is your experience? | Military and 121 |
Total Flight Time | 2,000-3,000 |
Total Turbine PIC Time | 1,000-2,000 |
General Overview of Experience | Overall it was a great interview experience. The staff at Pilot Selection does a great job of putting you at ease on your big day. Everyone was very friendly and they want to hire you. |
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | 12 months + |
Did you attend a job fair? | No |
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | As soon as I consolidated at my current airline (100 Hrs), and added it to my application, I received an invite. I also had an internal rec about a year ago. |
How many internal recs did you have? | 1-2 |
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 4 weeks |
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | No issues with any paperwork or logbooks. Didn’t have any questions about flight time. Make sure you follow directions when compiling your paperwork. Don’t waist your time binding it or labeling it, just give them what they ask for. |
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? | RST exclusively. I did the ground school and flashcards then identified weak areas with the test and quizzes. The questions are not the same but the concepts are similar. Make sure you are not just memorizing the answers to the quizzes. The COG trainer is awesome, I don’t think I would have passed with out it. You have a little more time to answer the math questions during the actual test. |
Technical Test Questions | A couple volcanic ash questions that I had not seen in the study material but knew from my previous experience. Only 1 decent question, it was very easy. Mostly aero questions with a few systems and systems questions. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | It was something along the lines of… With relation to lift and Drag, if you decrease your AOA; then a couple of choices lift increases if your AOA was greater than L/D Max; Lift Decreases if your AOA was less that L/D Max; Drag increases if your AOA was greater than L/D max; Drag increases if your AOA was less than L/D Max. I put Drag increases if your AOA was less than L/D Max. You are not given the results of the test so I am not sure if that was correct. |
Cog Test | Easier than the practice. |
Cog Math Questions | I got 5 Math questions, nothing cosmic. |
HR Questions | After being told how the interview would go, the panel introduced themselves. When it was my turn they asked me to give a 5 min intro of my professional accomplishments since college. They asked what my current supervisor would say my strengths and weaknesses are. They asked about my failed pilot training check ride. The asked how I would adapt to being right seat after being an instructor. I got 5 WWYD questions, 1. What can you do as a Delta pilot to insure the Safe, on time departure of Delta Air Lines flights. 2. You arrive at the gate and ops tells you the ramp crew will be another 45 mins until the unload your baggage. 3. You are about to push and the flight attendant says a passenger is too drunk to fly. 4. You are the Captain and your FO shows up looking like crap and continues to look like crap even after you talk to him. 5. You are getting off the Bus and you pass a buddy going to work, you smell booze on his breath. Just remember that SAFTEY is the #1 in our industry, next use your resources and also keep the customer informed. If you take each question to a logical conclusion you will do fine. The panel was great, it was more like a conversation than an interview. Just remember you are being interviewed, don’t let your guard down. |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 1 year |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | None |
Any additional information you would like to add. | It is a stressful day, just remember to smile and show how excited you are to be there. |
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | No, the information provided thru RST was priceless |
