General Overview of Experience | Overall, it was a pretty tough day. I feel that my primary fault was that I wasn’t able to get enough sleep the two days prior, and I showed up feeling completely exhausted and stressed out. I would highly recommend that if you’re traveling from the west coast and time zones can throw you off (like they can to most folks), consider coming an extra day early and just relaxing for a day in Atlanta. Just like with most experiences, my interaction with the team there were very positive. Very professional and helpful all around. The panel was also very professional, though they seemed rather muted in my interaction with them during the interview. You need to be prepared for the scenario that you don’t really get much feedback from them to propel yourself forward, because you won’t know if you’re doing well or not. I struggled there, and should have focused on maintaining the confidence and composure that get’s me through the job every day. As Tito mentioned in his Podcasts, if you slip up on an answer, just keep moving forward and be committed to your answers. Maintain a positive attitude, good inflection, and convince them why you should be given a job. I also would say I screwed up with my personal intro. I should have spent more time practicing it in front of a mirror and pacing myself instead of just relying on having bullet points in my head. The intro set the tone for the whole interview, and had I been more jazzed and excited (again, lack of sleep really hurt me here) I think I would have done much better. Know who you are, what you can bring to Delta, and why you want to work for them. Had I spent some serious time pondering those issues, I also believe I would have done much better. Good luck! |

HR Questions | -WWYD if You show up to the gate and your flight attendants are late and come aboard fighting and suddenly passengers start boarding. -What do you do to stay current and up-to-date? -WWYD if your first officer showed up unshaven and without a hat? -Why flying? I know I didn’t do a great job showing my passion here very well. Have that “aha” moment ready. -What did you do to prepare for this interview? Did you use a consulting service? :Here I thought it was a “gotcha” and didn’t know how to respond. Just be honest! That’s probably what they’re looking for. -Tell me about your volunteer experience?: Looking back, I should have showed greater passion about what I was involved in. -Tell us about your hardest flight? |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 2 Months |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | Cage Marshall. They were great in that they provided lots of hypothetical questions that could be asked and helped me prepare my intro. But I wish it could have been a bit more critical of my weaknesses as well as offer a simulation of a stoic interview panel. |

Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? |
