General Overview of Experience | As previously noted in other TRs, the Delta Pilot Selection Team does an outstanding job treating everyone well, keeping everyone informed and reducing the inherent level of stress. No surprises, the daily schedule is posted on Day 1. CA Kraby sits all candidates down in a conference room, gives a brief intro and update on the company, re iterates that everyone in the room has the pedigree that Delta is looking for and the importance of being yourself throughout the interview process. The candidate group will be split based on last name alphabetical order, about half will have the HR panel interview in the AM with COG, PERS PROF, JKT after lunch and the other half will have testing in the AM and HR panel in the PM. The campus has a great cafeteria with high quality food options for everyone. Overall no curveballs and a great experience. |
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | 12 months + |
Did you attend a job fair? | No |
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | No |
How many internal recs did you have? | 3-4 |
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 4 weeks |
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | Nothing fancy, nothing tabbed, etc. Had my 4 mil logbooks plus my 1 civ logbook from when I first started flying along with my comprehensive bound pilot pro logbook with totals summary included. We didn’t reference logbooks at all during the HR panel interview. HR Rep had me pen & ink change my availability to read “2 week notice” during HR panel interview. |
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? | All of the RST products (T34, practice tests, etc..) prepare one well for the DAL tests. Dug into the old aero textbooks from college (ANA, etc…) and got busy re-acquainting my self with a lot of principles I hadn’t reviewed in a long time. |
Technical Test Questions | Felt solid on about 30-40 Qs. Made educated guesses on about 15-20 Qs and shot in the dark on 5-10. Huge test bank of Qs. I felt the JKT portion of the interview was the most challenging. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | RNA vs. RNP and one on how FMS top of descent calculations will shift with a headwind that was not input. |
Cog Test | No surprises. Do the RST COG tests a few times before and you should be fine. Don’t stress. Some of the tasks measure speed, accuracy and precision of where the stylus touches the selection box (sorry AF dudes). |
Cog Math Questions | Again, simple math with no scratch paper. Easier than the RST COG Math Qs. |
HR Questions | Retired CA, active FO and HR Rep. Round table format. Everyone had coats off so don’t be afraid to do the same when they offer. The panel is well trained, very courteous and professional and wants you to answer honestly and not to give canned ECIC answers. Much more conversational than I was expecting, many of the Qs resulted in more of a discussion in which they are pulling your problem solving techniques out. They are evaluating how you get to a conclusion when confronted with a problem. A lot of going through my personal history. Why Delta? What did you do to prepare for this interview? Describe your leadership style? How did you prepare for a deployment (extended period of time away from home)? How will you handle flying with a CA who is younger than you? Day 3 of a trip and your CA has been high/fast on all of his ILS approaches. How do you handle it? You’re the CA, you have a Muslim Cleric as a passenger and a few other passengers are taking issue with it. WWYD? |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 2 wks |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | None. |
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
What can we do to improve our services?
Concepts not covered by RST |
Overall no curveballs and a great experience
