General Overview of Experience | Overall the previous Ride Reports were accurate. HR is definitely the most important and weighted event, you must be honest and approachable. Our group went 10/15 for the day and the failures were all HR and all highly qualified candidates. |
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | 12 months + |
Did you attend a job fair? | No |
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | My app was pulled one month after I achieved 1000TPIC |
How many internal recs did you have? | 1-2 |
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 6 weeks |
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | Brought my electronic logbook, plus my ugly originals. No issues. |
Technical Test Questions | All tests were as to be expected. Every JKT question was something I had seen a variation of. First was the COG Test which was fairly easy, but felt stressful just reading the instructions to verify the task. YOU MUST Watch the Cog Trainer Video on RST to understand what levels on the cog trainer to study. The Cog took about 35 minutes to complete. Second was the personality test. It was 240 questions of Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree, I suggest NOT reviewing your answers on this test. It was easy and took only 30 minutes. The final test was the JKT. Up until this point I took a bathroom break between each test and stretched my legs. The test coordinator and test room is very laid back. I started the JKT and was immediately relieved with the questions. It was 60 questions and I had 2 real math questions. This is the only test you get a piece of paper and pencil for. I felt that I had seen or read about every question I received. I used tally marks at the end when I reviewed my answers to see how many questions I had to guess on and only counted four. It took me about 35 minutes to complete this test also. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | Calculating time for outbound leg in a hold. |
HR Questions | All were older gentlemen, but were nice. I kept my guard up, but cracked light jokes when I could and it seemed to lighten the mood and keep me calm. I was asked for a 3 minute intro from High School on. After that they reviewed my app and asked about my college, why I instructed at different places, one Incomplete I had in a class, how I started flying, what my most rewarding volunteer experience had been, what organizations I was apart of, what a SkyWest Carry on Tag was, my CFI/CFII checkride failures, speeding tickets, what domicile would you want at Delta, and just small talk about why I switched domiciles so many times. I had TMAT you went out of your way to help a customer, WWYD if your CA flew slow and was late on some flights, WWYD if you showed up late to an already boarded plane and a pax is concerned that their dog won’t get on…then the cargo heat is deferred. WWYD if the airport closes 1 hour out. Any final questions? All of the TMAT and WWYD were very conversational and I never once got “Okay what about when this happens!” It was very easy compared to the Emerald Coast practice ones I felt. Overall, I felt like I did well in HR and I did a sincere closing statement that made it very apparent this was the job I wanted and I was happy just to be there |
Cog Test | . |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 6 weeks |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | Emerald Coast. Yes. |
Any additional information you would like to add. | N/A |
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | Have a good balance of HR and JKT prep. I felt my prep was well suited for my personality. |
