Which Airline did you interview with? Delta
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 6 weeks
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? NA
What is your experience? Military and 121
Total Flight Time 4,000-5,000
Total Turbine PIC Time < 1,000
General Overview of Experience Pleasant experience. Straight forward and no surprises. It’s obvious they do this a lot.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Attended OBAP, and the EXPO, but I believe having an internal sent in the spring is what triggered it.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No issues. All paper logbooks, I made some minor corrections and only updated flight hours on the application. I handed in my logbooks and green ARMS folder. They did ask if I had access to airline hours via my airline company website, I do not and he left it at that. Might be something to get before hand and include in the paperwork to back up your logbooks. I would have had to get them from my airline’s flight records department. I did not take my own personal summary sheet nor did I tab my logbooks.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? Getting started checklist. Did most of the readings, except PHAK (used for reference on many subjects tho) and read highlighted ANA. Reviewed all flash cards and practice tests. Read through most gouge documents on Facebook. I had a good draw of questions I think, I was mostly confident on 75% and the others had answers that kinda made sense, so I felt good coming out of the test.
Technical Test Questions ILS 25L LAX – at HINDU ATC cancels approach clearance and nothing further. 4 options. Not sure the correct answer, I selected continue on GS to 2000MSL to MAP and execute missed approach.
Dutch roll most pronounced/dangerous. -high AOA high Airspeed, High AOA low Airspeed, 2 other answers.
747 left crosswind. Most critical engine. None, 2 starboard, right outboard, left outboard.
Taxiing and CA tried going around obstruction. Plenty of concrete, but you stop him because the solid double taxiway edges? I’m not good at markings.
One decent planning which was simple 3 times your distance.
Localizer one dot at 6 miles. .1 I think
One CG question about moving aft and maneuverability
Wind and runway heading question after takeoff
250 knots ground speed, how long 375NM
5 or 6NM behind heavy, winds given were 6 knot crosswind. What do the vorticies do? 2 best answers, -Land cause you have required wake separation -Upwind wake will remain on runway. I select the upwind wake, not sure the best answer.
One pressurization question about differential
What’s a TR.
The one about .78 in the decent. Told to maintain 330 in the transition, which happens first. 250 happens at a higher altitude.
When to turn after takeoff.
Weather radar tops question.
High pressure system question.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? See above. I had a lot of similar questions to the gouge. Almost none or very few word for word.
Cog Test As advertised. Nothing really stands out, maybe ensure you have a good cadence for the left right thing for keeeping it in the center. I heard one person beating those keys up hard. The cog webinar recommends nice and even pace.
Cog Math Questions One reverse percentage. 1300 is 65% how many total.
One of the pear, apple, and peaches total price question.
Can’t remember the other couple I made it to but I do know I didn’t recognize any word for word.
HR Questions High school til now, 5 min no family.
Several follow up questions about background. Easy stuff.
Couple CFI questions about that.
How did you get interested in flying.
Some indirect questions about Mil flying and civilian. I suspect they were fishing about mil leave, but my history reflects well with this.
Tell us how Delta fits into your career. For the guard people, this was my chance to hammer down my commitment to Delta.
Talked about commuting since I do that now.
If you were hired and ended having to be an FO for 15 years. How do you handle that.
For WWYD. Catering in 30 min and push is 5 min WWYD. It was a 2 hour flight.
4 drunk first class pax, FA says no Gate agent says yes.
CA wants to top a thunderstorm, WWYD. Obviously can’t top.
TMAAT — your most difficult flight. I didn’t have one prepped and went through my latest one that came to mind.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 7 weeks total to prep due to availability. Spent first 4-5 weeks in cog and knowledge. Spent more of the last two weeks for HR
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? I have done Emerald Coast in person seminar (2 years ago) and listened to the audio files in the past and used them for my previous job >1 year ago. Purposely did not review their stuff. They did not ask me if I used a prep service.
Any additional information you would like to add. I had to retake the MMPI on day 2. I recommend reviewing the guide on Facebook for day 2 and don’t be too positive the first time you take the test.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No
