General Overview of Experience Professional and a good experience, as others have said they do their best to put you at ease. There was no good cop bad cop going on in the HR interview, as Barry tries to tell everyone it’s just pilots talking about pilot stuff. If you’re at the interview they’ve looked at your app and want you there, you just need to be yourself and talk about what you already know.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal rec (not through the airline app site but the employee recommendation internal to Delta). FYI, I received a fix-it email back in February of last year because I didn’t have a current class 1 medical or high school info in my app… bottom line get some professional help with your app before posting it! I’m pretty sure I would’ve gotten the call many months ago if my app was squared away.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? Nope, I spent a lot of time adding times up and QCing numbers before making a summary sheet from excel and it must’ve paid off because nothing came up about Flight times.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST
Technical Test Questions There were 60 questions, study the RST and you’ll have the 90% solution.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Nothing I can remember specifically being super difficult, RST did a good job of covering the majority of the material.
Cog Test Practice the RST cog to be familiar, I practiced it maybe 6-9 times before taking the real thing and did fine. I think the biggest takeaway was from the COG math in that there’s usually more the one way to figure out the answer, you can usually eliminate at least 1or 2 questions by basic observation.
Cog Math Questions They are tough and everyone felt like they messed it up afterwards, but everyone in my group was hired.
HR Questions They introduced themselves, then asked me to introduce myself in 5 or so minutes from high school. Then next 30 minutes was over my app. After that I got a TMAAT you had a conflict with a coworker. I got 3 WWYD questions after that; 1. You’re the Capt and FA’s are late from a previous connection and gate agents are pushing you to leave on time but FAs need some time to get things ready which will make you push late 2. You’re the FO and Capt wants to fly over T-Storm (this one came down to judgment between me and the Capt since every question I asked about the weather and if we’d clear the storm was inconclusive, I deferred to the Capt’s judgement and just had the FAs secure the cabin for possible upcoming turbulence) 3. You’re the Capt and you get a anti-skid light while enroute (no other info, and the checklist was useless). They followed up with a couple more questions about my app.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 2 months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC, I’m a terrible story teller so it was invaluable to get my TMAAT stories together beforehand. Also great for the WWYD scenarios, I smiled a bit to myself during the interview after getting asked my questions because I felt I’d already talked through the scenarios and stories they asked for. Made for a good experience overall.
Any additional information you would like to add. i had to take the personality test twice on the second day, not exactly sure why but if I were to guess it was from being too vanilla in my answers the first time around. I was a little more “real” the second time around and things went fine, just my guess though since they can’t tell you why.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Nope, everything went well
