General Overview of Experience Professional and enjoyable experience. Delta has their act together. Very efficient.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal rec may have triggered. Unknown.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? Followed RST 15 day plan. ECIC top off one week prior.
Technical Test Questions Yup… I think this is where the wheels came off. Some of the questions were just outside of my knowledge bin and I had to guess. Hard to remember which ones, but there were a few that I either couldn’t comprehend or had two equally valid answers from my perspective.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? The air conditioning packs produce what kind of air (cold only) (hot only) (cold and hot) (dry)
Cog Test Much easier than the trainer.
Cog Math Questions Nothing too challenging. Easily computable with the pencil and paper provided.
HR Questions Tell me about yourself. I see you were an LSO, were you a Squadron or Wing LSO? Have you interviewed anywhere else (yes, SWA). When do you find out from SWA? (right after my Delta interview… 🙂 How would you handle three pax who want to get off the plane rather than wait 30 minutes for de-ice (you’ve already pushed back)? How would you deal with a CA who is missing lots of checklist items? CA decides to press on for landing after two previous planes went around for windshear (though there is no longer an LWAAS alert)… what do you do? Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a customer.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? At least 2 months.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC. Yes, it helped me organize my thoughts and stories in a coherent manner while focusing on answering the question without shining a light on anything that might be construed as negative.
Any additional information you would like to add. Overall great experience and glad I did it. Delta invited me back in 6 months but I got the job I wanted at SWA, so I probably will not take them up on it. Thanks for all the help!
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Not really.
