General Overview of Experience As mentioned, very professional set up and facilities. Really a top notch organization. I felt welcome the whole time. Just didnt end as I would have hoped.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Ive had my app in for years and slowly made improvements to it until I hired someone to get serious about it a couple years ago. I went to the in house job fair that was a while back, and I had an internal submitted about 10 months prior to invite. Nothing on my app changed significantly for me to get the interview.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No. Follow their checklists and youre all set. Dont over think it.
Technical Test Questions I felt extremely confident coming out of the tech portion of the test. I thought RST did a great job getting me the concepts I needed for the test. Definitely not worded the same, but all in all, great prep.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I got 4 RMI needles and asked which one was going to intercept the bearing. The catch was that there were VOR needles overlayed too, so I just drew them all out and found what made sense. Also, an EPR and low N1 and EGT number that I kinda guessed on. I picked the safest answer, and on reflection, I’m pretty sure it was right.
HR Questions Very comfortable and they made me feel releaxed. I had no trouble being myself.
Talk about the not so good stuff; check ride fail, grades. Why did you pick this school? Tell me a little about this job?
Tell me a time when you had a conflict. Tell me about a time you had to deliver unfavorable news. Tell me about a time you needed to take on unexpected leadership.
What if the CA wants to land at the wrong airport? What if after you went around, it was actually the right airport? What if youre having engine problems, should you tell the passengers that its weather?
It went by very fast, and I didnt get to throw in some key points that I wanted to, such as rules of the road stuff. They didnt ask anyone “why Delta”
Cog Test In hindsight, I studied this the least, and I rushed myself through the test for no good reason. There are opportunities to contine practicing portions during the test, do it. This falls on my shoulders completely, however I had a hard time with the ergonomics of the stylus and touch screen. I didnt get my elbow placement right until halfway through, and it was hindering my speed on answering. It doesnt feel good that this was the reason I didnt get the CJO, so hit up the trainer a little more and learn from me.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Cage Marshall. They really helped me gather my thoughts, and be thourough in my answers.
Any additional information you would like to add. Study hard, study often, and study it all.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? More cog trainer time.
