Great Experience

Basically 3 groups,
1st did HR then mmpi before lunch
2nd did mmpi then HR before
3rd did mmpi then HR after lunch

I was in 3 rd group

Did MMPi. Pretty straight   forward

Waited until after lunch for HR.  Brutal on the nerves

Last to get called in

4 people.  Two active captains HR guy and a trainee ,

Started on with intros,
Pretty relaxing ,
3-5 mins tell me how you got here.and why delta
Nailed that,  very important to set the tone at this moment

They dug into my logbook for awhile , probably my weakest talking point because I wasn’t expecting this but we had fun talking about it and it turned out good.
Asked about logging some sim time PIC, it was during atlas and the Differences sims we did .  I was told we could log as pic since we just got typed.  Nothing further on that, asked about some scribbled out stuff in my private pilot training days/  my original logbook was a mess and I had a new printed out electronic book to go with it too.  Just explained that I was keeping my original for  nostalgia and that my electronic stuff was my main resource.  They liked that.   Dug for awhile about why I didn’t come right back after 6 months last time Failed the hr portion.    Why College, joked about my 2.7 gpa.  Application was is good shape. So not a lot of correcting on it.  I’d say about 20 min dedicated to application and logbooks for me
Then we got into the meat of the interview.

It was WWYD, no TMAAT for me

1.  passenger is concerned about her dog, sees it not being loaded. And that lead into aft cargo heat being MEL, rso we couldn’t take it . They  Just escalated the situation as you worked thru it.  Not a huge deal.   I had a great story to go with this and it helped.  Also I was a ramper for a awhile that helped. I used that experience on this question.

2.   That lead into some role play,  the HR and one pilot played the “attentive flight attendants “ the other pilot pretended not to pay attention to me at all. Wanted to hear my briefing , how do I get there attention?  I ended up bribing them with coffee.  Worked great, and I had another good teamwork story to tack on the end and it helped the situation come to the conclusion.

3. The last and hardest wwyd,

You are inbound to Atl from an international destination.  Divert to Augusta.    Lavs are full and smelly, wwyd.    Not any real good choices.  They shoot down any easy options you suggest.   Think about brand, teamwork, safety, and just talked out loud.    Basically I couldn’t let people off the plane, asked about what other international diversions were doing and get advice , chief pilot suggestions and then asked if we could get a lav cart from savannah or another close airport to at least get some good news to our passengers.

I’m sure there were some more questions.   The campfire method was the way to go,  keep the SAR method in the back of your mind cause the HR guy did mention that he like to hear that format but the camp fire method really worked for me.  And in the end it was as you said. I connected during the interview and that’s what mattered.

My suggestions for a less stressful interview

1.  Airtight Application,
Make sure you can talk about all aspects of your application , give good accounts of everything good and bad.

2. Get logbook in order.   Mine was good but they still picked thru it.   No big deal but be able explain anything in it.

3. Practice intro , be yourself , be a good human and have fun talking about the stories and wwyd stuff.   I’m not sure they cared about the answers at all.

4. mmpi.   Who knows.
5.  Physc stuff.   I felt we had great interview.  Nothing crazy, good convo , good stories nothing too deep or bad.
