TPIC 121 hours0

|
General Overview of Experience | USAF Fighter background |
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? | <60 days |
Did you attend a job fair? | No |
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? | Internal recs submitted by friends at Delta the day after I submitted my app O/A 22 Nov. |
How many internal recs did you have? | 3-4 |
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? | 4 weeks |
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? | None; they didn’t even ask about my hours. Had a civilian log book, an Air Force one that included pretty much only pilot training, and an Air Force “green monster” (flight records folder) |
Technical Test Questions | Questions about REL colors, purpose of aileron/spoiler mixer, if you fly over a VOR/DME at FL360 what will your DME range be, some questions about total air temp, one holding question, a couple math, and LOTS of aero. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | I don’t remember the hardest question but I studied what I thought was quite a bit and still didn’t feel great leaving the JKT. Recognized a number of questions from RST prep but was hoping I felt better leaving the test. If I were to do it over again, I think I’d spend more time with ANA and literature on high altitude aero. |
HR Questions | I thought I had an AWESOME panel; very relaxed, seemed interested the whole time, made eye contact, and could see them as people I’d want to fly with. Asked about my education and what Master’s degree was the toughest and why. Asked me to tell them about a time I felt a sortie was “most in doubt.” TMAAT you provided customer service. Asked why Delta, what was my toughest instructor job, and items surrounding my leadership jobs in the USAF. WWYDs included can’t sleep at hotel and pilot rest is in question, t-storm is 3NM off the departure end and Delta has a rule that you can’t takeoff with that but passengers see other carriers taking off (wanted to hear what I would say exactly in my intercom announcement to the pax), you’re an FO and CA is flying and told to role out on a heading but doesn’t…led to a discussion about when would you take the controls. |
Cog Test | Easy; RST is spot on. Watch the video. |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? | 5 weeks |
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | Emerald Coast. Whatever technique you use for HR, be yourself. You can tell that if you’re a robot and repeat platitudes about “Safety, brand, customer service/team” the day probably won’t go well. |
Any additional information you would like to add. | Big thanks to Tito…world class app review and great service overall. |
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? | Negative |
RST is spot on
