General Overview of Experience Overall experience was very similar to what other described. RST prepares you very well for the JKT and cog test. I used ECIC for the HR portion. I recommend starting the DAL Ground School as soon as possible and then 15-20 days out start the 15 day course. Quizlets were a good backup for when the RST went down. The RST clone site was also useful for this, but I had to get the link from a friend.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? <60 days
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? No, less than 10 days from application in to interview invite. Checked and set was key to having no major questions about my application.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? Make sure to include transcripts from transfer credits even if the transfer credits show up on the transcript from the school you graduated from. For Air Force folks, when they ask for OPRs they really want OPRs and Training Reports to have a complete record of reports with no date gaps. There are differences between the documents to bring from the initial email and the second interview confirmation email, make sure to use the second. They ask for Form 8, Form 8a, and Form 942, but they really want all of your complete training records as well. None of these were major issues, but just things that were asked about.
Technical Test Questions All covered in RST, a couple math questions, holding questions, and aerodynamic questions. Plenty of time to complete the test if you prepare with RST.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? A question about descent point with answers that included the 3x your altitude in thousands of feet and the actual 3 degree descent. I chose the 3x your altitude since that is what I would typically use in that scenario, but no idea if I got it right.
HR Questions Mostly questions about your application and trying to get to know you. A couple list questions about captain and FO qualities, followed by 3-4 WWYD questions. Stick to your initial answer, unless it is completely wrong. Use Safe, Legal, Customer Service, and On-time as priorities to guide your response.
Cog Test Easier that RST’s cog trainer, but make sure to watch the video about how to use the cog trainer.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 6 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC, very helpful for building confidence in your responses and listening to others responses. We also formed a group with other interviewees which was helpful to get to know the other people, but structured preparation was also key.
Any additional information you would like to add. I suggest reading up and preparing for the MMPI test as well.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? More research and prep on the MMPI test.
