General Overview of Experience You arrive through the security gate, the security guard will have you enter a small lobby to collect name tag, and then have you proceed further down to the next entrance to the pilot hiring office. You wait in the main lobby until someone comes and calls a few names at a time to collect paperwork. Paperwork collection goes quick (rapid fire) so have your paperwork ready to grab and hand in. No staples, no paperclips. Listen carefully and do exactly what they say.

After paperwork and logbooks are collected you continue to another waiting area where there is nice furniture and a kitchen area with plenty of free drinks and snacks. You will spend most of the day here waiting between different portions of the interview. Everything is alphabetical, so the beginning of the alphabet will complete the HR panel first thing (around 8:30), and the bottom of the alphabet will complete the MMPI first. Second round of interviews goes at 10:30, and then you take a break for lunch (a very nice cafeteria across the street, there’s even a Chick-Fil-A!). Back in the waiting area around 12:30 (they will tell you what time to be back). First round of CJO’s offered while remaining applicants do their HR panels (and get their CJO’s shortly thereafter).

If not offered a CJO, you will grab your belongings and leave. If offered a CJO you will immediately begin filling out paperwork, complete fingerprinting, drug test, and then meet with a psychologist. Everyone should be done by 2:30 -4:00 depending on where you are in the alphabet.

They do a great job of putting everyone at ease, it really should feel like a non-event. If you feel stressed, it’s because you are doing it to yourself. By far the best and most professional interview experience I’ve ever had at ANY company. Delta really has the process figured out.
