General Overview of Experience 20 year Marine F/A-18 pilot with F-5 and UC-12M time. Commanding Officer.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Had 3 LORs, 2 from Delta pilots (both junior).
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST
Technical Test Questions Math wasn’t too bad. RST will prepare you well; don’t recommend any additional preparation. RST 15 day prep was very sufficient. Understand the concepts though, don’t just study the test questions.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Random questions on Aero that required knowledge of the concepts, and seem to have 2 correct answers (or was just difficult).
Cog Test No problem. I didn’t get to practice the COG at all as it was taken down. The supplemental links RST used were a bit painful, but very adequate for preparation, in addition to the COG PowerPoint that provides the overview.
Cog Math Questions Very easy. COG PowerPoint examples spot on.
HR Questions -In 3 mins, tell us about yourself. I took 6. Kept them interested and ensured I told them everything I wanted to; no issues.
-Tell us about working as a waiter in high school – didn’t expect that!
-Why did you choose your college?
-TMAAT you had to convince a group of people of an unpopular idea?
-WWYD if your lead flight attendant came up and said a 1st class passenger refuses to check one of her 3 bags? FAA rules only permit 2 carry-ons.
-How will you handle being a junior copilot after being so senior in the military?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? I interviewed with another major carrier, so about 12 hours total broken up over 4 days
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. Yes.
