General Overview of Experience Same as everyone’s reports. It being my 2nd attempt, the ONLY mention/thing different from the first experience was the HR member of the Panel started with “It looks like you have been here before, but I will again explain to you how we will do this portion of the interview”…..or something to this effect. Well, that and the fact that it was a different panel this time, of which I felt a little more comfortable with, but that also is probably because of how MY mindset was.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? <60 days

How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 2 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No
Technical Test Questions Because of previous jobs/interviews, this was the 4th time taking the JKT. It has never been a challenge for me in the past, and during my 1st failed Delta Interview, I was told I did REALLY well on it, but that I failed the HR.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I do not recall
HR Questions -Tell us about yourself
-Why did you choose this University?
-Why part 61 and not part 141 if the University offered it? Did you know this prior to enrolling?
-Why did you decide to get XXX degree instead of aviation?
-Explain Check ride failures
-Who is the most important person in the Operation?
-If you could choose any base and aircraft at Delta, what would it be?
-What would you tell a new FO who seems willing to abuse the sick policy?
-Any regrets in the past 7 years of your aviation career? (this I believe they tried to see if I was going to be negative about switching from one regional airline for another)…I kept it positive and explained how I needed to move on if I were to move forward.
-How were the students you trained at XXX Ab Initio flight school?
-How did you manage/handle upgrading and advancing so quickly at your 2nd regional after failing your initial checkride?
-WWYD: Prior to departure, both aft lavs are deferred, and the front lavs work but smell bad, OPS says it will be a 30 minute delay.
-WWYD: You are a captain on a new airplane for you, and an experienced FO in their seat keeps doing part of your flows.
-WWYD: It is night time in mountainous terrain, you lose sight of the runway at mins. You have a planned alternate.
-TMAAT: A captain asked you to do something you where not comfortable with, how did you handle it?
-TMAAT: You had a conflict with a crew member. (Although I answered the above TMAAT exactly how the panel asked…..it probably wasn’t “big” enough of a story, so they went a little stronger on the question.)
In all, this portion was about 45-50 minutes.
Cog Test Get good rest the night before for a clear head, understand the instructions, treat the practice test as if they are real (because some people make the mistake that they are still in practice mode), Do not panic if you lose focus!
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? I had over 12 months to think about it…
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? I used Emerald Coast for my first interview attempt and I ended up with a 12 month re-apply based upon an HR failure. I did not use a prep service on my second attempt and felt that I was better able to tell my stories, BE MYSELF, and keep it conversational with the professionals in the room with me.
Any additional information you would like to add. I was a re-apply in 12 months. I updated my app a few days after reaching the 12 month re-apply date, which was over a weekend. I received the invite to interview the following Monday (2 days later?). I didn’t even get the chance or needed to add any LOR’s. This almost immediate invite was a big surprise to me, and I am sure is rare. I had a very productive 12 months from a “box checking” standpoint, so maybe this helped?
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
