General Overview of Experience Smooooth ride! Previous debriefs were spot on. Everyone, and I mean everyone, in the Pilot Selection office were very welcoming and sincerely want you to be successful. They want to hire 100% of the people they bring in for interviews. Arnie Kraby even reiterates that fact. Keep in mind he has personally reviewed your application prior to being invited for an interview. I can’t stress enough, read all of the corespondence and instructions carefully. I know of people not getting the job because they didn’t bring official sealed transcripts from ALL colleges attended. I had to bring 3 and of course be prepared to explain any subpar grades.. I had a couple F’s and W’s from my first attempt at college.. Don’t be afraid, just own it and be honest. Remember, they already know your GPA from your application so your already “in” if you’re worried about that. They are truly looking for you to be genuine, sincere, and accountable. The HR person came up to me on the second day and commended me for being sincere and genuine.. So be careful with interview prep.. It’s okay to have some hiccups in your delivery as long as you’re being yourself.. She also insinuated that canned answers get you “canned”. Anyways I think I beat that to death.. Honestly the suit myth of navy blue suit with red tie is a myth… If anything I think it doesn’t do you any favors if that’s not something you feel comfortable with. If you wear a suit that you like and fits well, do that, I think subconsciously you’ll perform better. (I didn’t wear the standard mythological Delta interview suit). I’ve seen all these questions on facebook regarding briefcases and colors.. Man that’s precious time that should be spent on the RST Cog Trainer and studying up on JKT theory and concepts. Moving on, the 2nd day was rough mostly because my group had to come in at 5:45am. A couple people had to retake the MMPI due to being “too positive”. I have to emphasize that you just need to be honest and equally as important, read the questions careful… “Sometimes” is NOT the same as “Often” one could be true, and one could be false, just don’t rush or you might find yourself retaking the 567 test… I passed on first attempt. Psychologist evaluation lasted 30 min and was a lot of TMAAT. Again be honest and just make sure you finish with how there was a resolution. Don’t let there be any doubt that there might be unresolved issues. I was done by 10am with everything. Got an email around 12:30pm saying Day 2 Successful.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite?
Did you attend a job fair?
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation?
How many internal recs did you have?
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview?

How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview?
Technical Test Questions -What do you do when encountering volcanic ash?
-You’re landing at max weight on short runway in a 757. What protection will fuse plugs give you?. It’s a trick question. All the info is irrelevant.
– Lots of flaps and aerodynamic theory, can’t remember them.. Honestly weren’t too tricky.. Make sure you read how the question is written and choose the BEST answer as it relates to how the question is stated.
-When do you need a life raft and pyrotechnics?
-Compressor stall recovery… This question had a lot of similar answers so just read it carefully.
That’s all I can think of, my mind was gone by the end.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test?
Cog Test If you actually work at the RST trainer you will have no issues. When I first took the RST cog test, I scored like 1550.. I practiced until I was averaging about 2100. Also make sure you’re do an RST webinar! I used to have a hard time with the reverse # recall until I learned to group three #s into one… For example 1-2-3-4-5-6… Recall 654, 321.. Easy!
Cog Math Questions
HR Questions Nice 5 min intro. Take off the jacket when they offer… Unless you’re more comfortable with it… It’s not a trick.. Be relaxed.. I made a joke that i was still sweating from the cog test and boom there goes the first casual question “haha how do you think you did? How did you prepare” .. So be careful what you say cause it could evoke a follow up Q&A. Completely harmless though. We spent a bit of time on my career prior to flying which they seemed intrigued about. No questions on my 5 speeding tickets, or minor misdemeanor. I was very detailed in my application. I was shocked, to be honest. (I made a lot of dumb mistakes as a kid prior to my flying career). I was ready to own it though.
Asked about how I’ve gone above in beyond for a customer/customer service.
Asked about one volunteer position. Piece of cake.
“If you get hired, you’d have a 35 year career flying at Delta, WWYD to stay motivated?”
“WWYD if your FO wasn’t wearing their hat?”
“Have you ever had to call Pro Standards?”
“You’re on a layover and there was a bunch of noise keeping you up all night, WWYD?”
That was it. Was very easy. Time flew by fast. Couldn’t believe I was in there 45 minutes. The entire process was so relaxed. I left feeling really good and almost if I had made new friends, that’s how relaxed they were. Also made me initial my availability. I interviewed Aug1-2 and have a Aug 22 class! Good luck!
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview?
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? RST for JKT/COG. That’s it.
Any additional information you would like to add. On the second day, the HR lady in my interview made comments about how she was impressed that i was very thoughtful in my answers. I know I wasn’t always the most organized in my delivery but I hit the important points when showing my work.. Safety isn’t the only thing they’re looking for.. Being thoughtful towards customer service, operational considerations, etc. Showcase that you would be mindful but not pressured by those external influences / stressors. Finally BE YOURSELF. And STUDY STUDY STUDY. Only you know how hard you prepared.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
