If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? N/A

General Overview of Experience Stressful at first. But they do their best to put you at ease. Barry Holmes sites everyone together and explains that they understand this is not fun for us and they will do their best to put us at ease, as it is our personality that they are screening for mostly. The wait to go into the HR portion and waiting in the lobby until they caked you back for the CJO (or lack thereof) were the most stressful parts.
When I got the invite, I signed up for the RSY members page. I starred doing the 15 day checklist, but got the feeling I was getting bogged down in reading. I stopped the checklist at day 11.o would recommend doing the reading assignments in aerodynamics as this was where 80% of my JKT questions came from. I did all the groundschool lessons, and only did the math trainer once. I was scared about the math due to how little prep I put into that part, but cog math was easy and I only got 1 math question on the JKT. If you have minimal study time, the 60 to 1 rule is good enough most likely. Everybody always said to know the concepts, and this is true. Basically you need to understand airspeed, AOA, mach and temp relationships with increases in altitude. Have an understanding of swept wing AC and the benefits of them. All aircraft are assumed swept wing on the test unless noted otherwise.
All applicant stayed at the Hilton, Hampton or Comfort Inn. Make sure you get the Delta rate when buying. I don’t recommend even bringing your cell phone as it week terminate your day if they see it.
Try to relax as best you can the night prior. Go have a beer with the other applicants and get as much sleep as possible.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? I spaced my internal recs out in quarters. Basically I had 4 internal references that submitted my app 3 months apart from one another.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No. However, I currently fly for Republic. I was given a heads up by a previous applicant filling out the PRIA paperwork that they send you NOT to put Republic Airways Holdings if you have multiple certificates with the company (Shuttle America, Chataqua, Republic) as it will cause chaos on the paperwork after the CJO. Make sure you list each if that sort of thing applies to you.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST.
Technical Test Questions What is the difference between RNP and ANP?
You’re shooting an NDB approach to RWY 9. The NDB is 5 miles to the west of the runway and you are 3 miles west of the runway. The tail of the bearing pointer is on 100, and you’ve only flown a 090 heading. Assume no wind, how do you correct? Answer: turn leftYour right main tire blows on landing. How does this affect your landing and what corrections will need to be made?
You lose an engine at V1. What altitude dies the aircraft have to be at by the end of the runway? 35 ft
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? There were 2.
1: What are the pilot actions during a compressor stall?
A. Do nothing
B. Do nothing (with extra wording behind it)
C. Follow AFM and POH
D. Slightly reduce power on takeoff roll is surging occurs. What factors are influential with a fuel computer fail?
The answers were ridiculous. Almost paragraph long answer choices ranging from air density to hydraulics. Even leaving the test I never quite understood what the question was asking.
Cog Test Much easier than the practice for the most part. The sound test happens faster than the practice.
I would certainly listen to the webinar about the cog test on RST if you haven’t already.
Cog Math Questions Train leaves the station at 745. It makes 3 fifteen minute stops. It’s enroute time is 3 hours. What time will it arrive at the destination? Literally directly from the practice.
I got the peaches, pears and apples question directly from the practice test.
25 cents a day, how much will you have in 2 weeks?
HR Questions Tell us about yourself in 3 minutes.
I see you had OK grades in high school, and those grades really boosted in college. How did that happen since you just told us you worked all 4 years you were there, and it is college ya know? How do you manage your guard and regional job workload?
I see you have X on your list of references (internal), what would he say if I called him and asked him about you? By the way, he actually called the guy after I left the room. I did not expect that at all.
At Delta we have internal and external customers. How would you describe those?
After your solo, who did you call and why?
I see you failed your CFO checkride. Tell me about it.
Tell me about your leadership style.
Is an FO a leader in the cockpit?
What would be the worst thing about working for Delta?
TMAAT you were very busy.
WWYD if you were at the top of descent and Narita gets hit with a natural disaster.
I mentioned that I would do the 2 in-2 out method with a delay on the pax until I get more info. I said I will get dispatch to see if or alternate was hit by natural disaster too,and if not, make sure they won’t be swamped with divert aircraft that might delay us getting serviced. I told the pax that we were diverting due to weather that had closed the airport so that I wouldn’t inflict panic in the back. They said the flight attendant call button starts going off and they said that since passengers are connected to WiFi and know a tsunami hit. I elected to maintain my story of weather hitting until I have a note definitive answer. They followed up with, what would you sayif it were an earthquake?
Any more questions for us, or anything you would like to add?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 18 months. I used Emerald Coast in preparation for another airline. Did my first WWYD 3 weeks prior.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. They do a very good job during their webinars. I would recommend attending at least 2 of those.
Any additional information you would like to add. Of the 8 in our interview group, 6 got the job. 1 of those was not an RST member. I have a feeling that went into it, although not certain. Please spread the word about this program so guys are prepared!
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Stressed a little less, but that was impossible.
