How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 4 weeks from invite to interview. 3 weeks from listed availability.
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? NA
What is your experience? Military
Total Flight Time 4,000-5,000
Total Turbine PIC Time >2,000
General Overview of Experience Such a great atmosphere. Polite and proud to be Delta. So helpful. I think they are genuinely happy to be delta employees and happy to help you join the family. They help you relax. They don’t care about blue suits and red ties or water bottles.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? No.
0 recs
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST
Technical Test Questions Something about terminal doppler weather radar 8 miles from departure or 12 miles from arrival I didn’t know. It was either the shortest answer or the longest answer. Wasn’t sure.
What increases voltage?
What increases velocity the most in the turbine engine?
Manual control of pressurization. Increase thrust/ open outflow. Vs. const power descent/ close outflow.
Lot of questions I had never quite seen on RST but all the basic principles about aero just asked in a different way.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Terminal Doppler weather radar something about wind shear procedures. I knew it meant to take wind shear precautions just wasn’t sure which one most correct answer.
Cog Test Way easier than RST overall
Warning: the combined localizer can get away from you in a hurry if you aren’t careful. Make sure only one tap in one direction don’t tap the wrong way. Don’t tap the other way until it’s across the line. In RST you could actually keep the plane one one side of the center and be stable if you were in rhythm. You cannot do that. Had a great rhythm on the localizer only test– pretty much mindless. On the combined test I tried to do the same thing so I could concentrate on the 1-2-3. But my rhythm must have been out of phase. Next thing I knew my bar was sliding out of control like a mad banshee. Took a little work to get it back and then I was set. I definitely had better sessions on RST w this one. Wish I had performed better but but seemed to be ok. One thing to note very important. The numbers are hard to see if you go to fast. In RST I did better up to a point the faster I would go. I felt like the delta version was easier and I didn’t need to go as fast. Luckily I noticed in the practice that if I accelerated to very quick pace you couldn’t read the number in the box.
I was worried about doing math quickly, but it wasn’t bad. Way easier problems than RST.
My reverse numbers seemed to progress from 3 number sets to 4 to 5 to 6. About 2 -3 of the same length then progressively get larger. Wasn’t randomized like on RST.
Overall the test were much shorter than RST which was a relief.
Cog Math Questions Don’t remember but seemed very basic math.
HR Questions Question from performance report.
You get back from a trip. Not scheduled for another 2 weeks. What is expected of you?
What does Delta owe you?
Capt asks you to claim delay is for wx when it is mechanical.
Capt is constantly high and fast but always greases it on.
TMAAT you had difficulties in training
Worst EP
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC
Yes. They were great for building confidence, so I was very at ease. A few pointers: Just have a conversation. Beware of letting your guard down I guess but I felt it was just talking with 3 friends about my experiences and philosophy. Didn’t use canned formats or formulas. Just let them know I was safety first, logical kind of guy they would enjoy spending time with. I read ride reports about how it’s good if they laugh and I thought ” great, I’m not a funny guy” but actually had them laughing a couple times. Not sure how that happened. Must have come naturally from being relaxed.
Any additional information you would like to add. Be real. Be honest. Your answers should flow naturally.
If you do RST you will be prepped well enough to pass the technical.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No.
