Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? Translating military flight records into FAA categories was a HUGE pain until I used beyondbluelogbooks.com. They hooked me up digitizing my flight records and translating into FAA-speak. Highly recommend.
Technical Test Questions Quite a few math questions, temperature conversions, electrical questions about batteries, generators, DC, AC buses, just a couple aero about flap types and L/D performance. I probably got between 45-70% of the questions correct. I felt I definitely got rocked.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I got a lot of electrical questions I wasn’t prepared to answer. Effects of battery failures on DC/AC buses, concurrent generators, A/C packs falling off-line, etc. I barely got any aero or engine questions, which is where I focused my studies. I sweated the results, but it worked out.
HR Questions Spent 20 minutes asking questions about my application and previous experiences. Then WWYD if a passenger claims he saw me drinking a gin and tonic at a restaurant before the flight and reports it to the FA during boarding. Then WWYD if you were flying with a Captain consistently cruising below planned speeds to make extra money. Describe your leadership style, TMAAT it worked well and a time it didn’t work well. TMAAT you failed at something and had to reevaluate your path forward. The only question I sensed was a potential “trap” was “you have been successful in different training programs, would you say you just naturally have a gift for flying.” I had been told to avoid ever focusing on myself, so I deflected the question and discussed team efforts and friends that helped me succeed. Otherwise it was a great experience. I’ve interviewed other places, and this was my favorite HR session.
Cog Test Struggled to focus on a few math problems, but I’m not super smart, so probably not an issue for most people.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC…awesome service.
Any additional information you would like to add. RST is a great product! I felt like ECIC and RST provided great services. I would recommend Beyond Blue Logbooks be added to the prep to take care of all the logbook jitters military guys like me feel.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
